Thomas Cook, the renowned online holiday company, has made strategic changes within its management team. This comes in the wake of the departure of Peter Yip, the former Chief Technology Officer. In an effort to steer the company towards enhanced digital capabilities, Marc Molenwijk has been appointed as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Molenwijk, who previously managed his own IT business in the Netherlands, has been integral in advancing Thomas Cook’s digital platform. His contributions have not only improved the speed and complexity of customer searches but have also reduced technology costs.
In his new role, Molenwijk intends to continue expanding the company’s digital reach. He stated, ‘I’ve been working alongside the team developing the new platform while running my own business. Now, in this new role, I am able to devote myself entirely to the expansion and development of our digital capabilities and how we source, compare and present the best-value holiday packages to our customers online.’
Alongside Molenwijk, Jo Migom is witnessing an expansion in her role. Already a founding member of the management team, she will now take on additional responsibilities overseeing customer service teams, both in-house and outsourced. Migom has played a pivotal role in managing the company’s European business, and her expanded role further reflects the company’s commitment to customer service excellence. Her new responsibilities will also include managing the company’s digital product teams.
Alan French, the Chief Executive Officer, remarked on the management changes, highlighting the valuable expertise Marc brings to the team, ‘Bringing in Marc’s hands-on developer expertise and his experience starting, running and ultimately selling a business adds significant strength to our existing management team.’ He also acknowledged Jo’s decade-long contribution to the company’s digital evolution and customer service, making her a suitable candidate for the expanded role.
Reflecting on the company’s progress, Migom noted, ‘Now four years in to founding and running this new Thomas Cook, we continue to expand our range of holidays and grow our customer base. This year we are investing significantly in our sales and service teams, and I am looking forward to supporting that development while continuing to improve our website based on customer feedback.’
The reshuffle at Thomas Cook underscores a strategic focus on digital innovation and superior customer service in its quest for growth.
