In an impressive financial turnaround, Advantage Travel Partnership has reported a substantial increase in its net profit for the year ending September 30, 2023.

The consortium’s pre-tax net profit nearly doubled, reaching £1.2 million, a testament to its post-Covid transformation efforts.

    Financial Performance and Turnover

Advantage Travel Partnership’s financial results for the year ending September 30, 2023, reveal a robust increase in net profit and turnover. The group’s pre-tax net profit soared to nearly £1.2 million, up from £619,815 the previous year, while the group turnover increased from £21.5 million to £33.2 million.

Total global sales turnover for the consortium’s members reached £15.6 billion, with UK members contributing £7.6 billion, an impressive 69% increase year-on-year. Of this, business travel generated £5.7 billion, and leisure travel contributed £1.9 billion.

    Transactional Turnover and Strategic Investments

The group’s transactional turnover also experienced significant growth, nearly reaching £116 million, compared to £88 million in the previous year. This increase is largely attributed to the consortium’s strategic focus on expanding its services and leveraging growth opportunities.

According to the consortium’s statement, these results mark a milestone achievement, showcasing the highest profitability levels since the appointment of current CEO, Julia Lo Bue-Said. The group remains committed to its ambitious vision of ongoing transformation and growth.

    Strategic Vision and Membership Growth

Chairman Steven Esom highlighted 2023 as a year of considerable recovery for the UK outbound travel industry. Despite economic challenges and a cost-of-living crisis, British consumers prioritised travel, fuelling growth in both leisure and business sectors.

Esom noted that business travel saw a resurgence as companies resumed in-person meetings and events, with booking volumes reaching 92% of 2019 levels. He also mentioned a 25% increase in membership, which contributed to the consortium’s expanding footprint and strategic growth plans.

    Leadership and Workforce Development

CEO Julia Lo Bue-Said emphasised the positive backdrop for the UK outbound travel industry, which significantly boosted Advantage’s financial and strategic performance in 2023.

Lo Bue-Said pointed out the diversification of the talent pool and investments in remote working capabilities as key priorities. This strategy aims to ensure that the consortium attracts and retains the best talent, regardless of location within the UK.

    Strengthening Business Travel Division

Advantage Travel Partnership also reinforced its Global Business Travel division, solidifying its position as a leading business travel consortium in the UK.

Despite global challenges such as conflicts in Ukraine, Israel, and Palestine, Lo Bue-Said remains cautiously optimistic about the future. She highlighted that holidays and travel continue to be of vital importance to individuals and businesses alike.

    Financial and Strategic Future

Looking ahead, the consortium is optimistic about its future financial and strategic prospects. The strong financial performance in 2023 provides a solid foundation for exploring further strategic options to ensure long-term sustainability.

Lo Bue-Said underscored the importance of maintaining a strong balance sheet, which not only reassures members and partners but also positions the group for continued investment in services and growth.

    Investing in Member Services

Advantage Travel Partnership plans to continue investing in services that support its members and business partners, leveraging these investments to drive further growth and scale.

In summary, Advantage Travel Partnership’s substantial profit increase and strategic investments highlight its robust recovery and forward momentum post-Covid.

The consortium’s strong financial performance in 2023 sets a solid foundation for continued growth and success in the travel industry.
