At the latest Hays Travel Independence Group (IG) conference, attendees were encouraged to utilise artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT to boost their social media marketing efforts. The advice comes as agents face increased pressure to improve their performance in the competitive lates market.

Hays Travel’s social media manager, Natalie Heatlie, alongside marketing manager Dionne Evans, highlighted the advantages of integrating AI into marketing strategies. They demonstrated how these tools can inspire content creation and elevate the visibility of agent services on digital platforms.

    Leveraging AI for Competitive Advantage

Hays Travel IG members were shown practical examples of how AI can be utilised to create engaging social media content. Natalie Heatlie emphasised the importance of tools like ChatGPT in generating fresh ideas for posts, which could attract more customers. “Utilise different tools we have available, such as artificial intelligence tools like the free ChatGPT, to help inspire content ideas for social media,” she advised.

The integration of AI is particularly timely as agents are encouraged to enhance their marketing strategies. AI-driven content can provide a competitive edge by automating routine tasks and allowing agents to focus on more personalised customer interactions.

    Emphasising the Human Touch

Creating Urgency in Social Media Posts

Heatlie and Evans recommended that agents introduce a sense of urgency in their social media campaigns. By encouraging prompt customer action, agents can drive quicker booking conversions.

With research indicating that May and June are peak travel months, it is crucial for agents to prompt customers to book their trips well in advance. This approach can help optimise booking flows and improve overall business performance.

    Evidence-Based Marketing Strategies

The presentation drew on recent research that suggests a trend towards customers booking travel between eight to ten weeks prior to departure. Leveraging this data, IG members can time their marketing efforts more effectively.

During the conference, several examples of successful social media initiatives by IG members were showcased. These case studies illustrated how creative content and effective use of AI tools have led to improved customer engagement.
