Teams from six Hays Travel branches have successfully raised more than £2,000 for a mental health charity. The remarkable effort was part of a 10-mile moonlight walk through London, conducted earlier this month.

The event, known as the ‘Thames Moonlight 10’, presents participants with a unique night-time challenge past some of London’s most iconic landmarks. This year, the funds raised were dedicated to supporting YoungMinds, a leading organisation focused on young people’s mental health.

A United Effort for a Worthy Cause

Agents from Bexleyheath, Harrow, Eltham, Romford, Southend, and South Woodham Ferrers branches took part in the 10-mile walk. The collective effort resulted in a significant contribution of £2,165 to YoungMinds.

The annual Thames Moonlight 10 walk guides volunteers through a scenic route around London’s landmarks as night falls, providing a picturesque yet challenging backdrop for fundraising.

    Proud Moments for Participants

Katrina Pike, branch manager in Bexleyheath, expressed her delight: ‘It was an exceptional evening filled with heartfelt strides and unified spirits as we embarked on the Thames Moonlight 10 mile walk for YoungMinds.’

She added, ‘We are proud to be part of an organisation so committed to helping others. It means so much to be able to make a difference to our chosen charity, YoungMinds.’

Support from All Levels of the Organisation

Every year, each Hays Travel branch receives a £500 budget specifically for fundraising and charity work within their local community.

Rachael Dawney, Hays Travel regional sales manager, praised the team: ‘I am super proud of the Hays Travel team members who completed the Thames Moonlight 10. I know many of the team really needed to push themselves out of their comfort zone to complete the walk.’

She also highlighted the satisfaction in seeing the substantial amount raised for YoungMinds.

    Endorsement from the Charity

Camille Meehan of YoungMinds extended her gratitude for the support, noting, ‘We’re so grateful for your incredible support of YoungMinds. Our vision is clear: we want to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health. You are helping us achieve this, thank you.’

This endorsement underscores the importance of community initiatives in supporting mental health causes.

    Community Engagement and Fundraising Initiatives

Hays Travel branches across the country are active in their communities, with each branch receiving resources to engage in local fundraising efforts.

These initiatives not only raise vital funds but also foster a sense of community and solidarity among both Hays Travel staff and local residents.

The moonlight walk in London is just one of many activities that Hays Travel branches participate in throughout the year, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to social responsibility.

The Importance of Mental Health Initiatives

Mental health, particularly among young people, is a growing concern globally. Initiatives like the Thames Moonlight 10 walk are crucial in raising both awareness and funds.

The support provided by organisations like Hays Travel contributes significantly to the efforts of mental health charities such as YoungMinds, helping to ensure that young people have access to necessary resources and support.

    Looking Forward

As Hays Travel continues its charitable efforts, the success of this moonlight walk underscores the potential of community-based initiatives to make a significant impact.

Hays Travel’s commitment to social causes highlights the positive role businesses can play in their communities.
