Emmie Insull, a Hays Travel apprentice from Allestree, has been distinguished in the East Midlands regional segment of the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards.

At the tender age of 18, she secured the Advanced Apprentice of the Year accolade during a ceremony hosted at The City Rooms in Leicester earlier this month.

    Achievement and Recognition

Emmie Insull’s remarkable achievement at the East Midlands regional final has set her apart in the competitive field of apprenticeships. Her journey through the Hays Travel apprenticeship programme has been one of dedication, growth, and passion. Winning the Advanced Apprentice of the Year award is a testament to her hard work and commitment to excelling in her career path.

    A Moment of Joy

Emmie expressed her overwhelming joy at receiving the award, stating, “When they said my name, I couldn’t stop smiling. I can’t thank everyone who has helped me through the process enough – my family and everyone at Hays Travel who has supported me.”

These words encapsulate the emotional milestone that such recognition represents for young apprentices like Emmie. It’s not merely professional validation, but also a personal triumph that marks an important point in her early career journey.

    Hays Travel’s Supportive Environment

Hays Travel has been instrumental in fostering a nurturing environment for its apprentices. Jane Schumm, the retail and training director, expressed immense pride in Emmie’s accomplishments. She noted Emmie’s significant growth since joining Hays, highlighting her involvement in the apprenticeship recruitment campaign and her active role in career events.

Emmie’s proactive engagement and enthusiasm make her a role model for future apprentices. Jane Schumm remarked, “I can’t wait to see Emmie blossom even more during her career with Hays Travel.”

    Hays Travel’s Commitment to Apprenticeships

Every year, Hays Travel recruits a significant number of apprentices across its branches and head office departments. This reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent and embedding a culture of learning and development within its workforce.

Speaking on the BBC Radio 4 programme, Dame Irene Hays, the owner of Hays Travel, confirmed the company’s dedication to apprenticeships by highlighting the recruitment of hundreds of apprentices annually. This strategy underscores the company’s belief in investing in the future workforce.

    Apprenticeships: A Viable Career Path

Apprenticeships are gaining recognition as a viable career path, offering practical experience alongside academic learning. Efforts by companies like Hays Travel showcase the potential of these programmes to equip young individuals with the necessary skills to excel in their chosen fields.

By integrating classroom learning with real-world experience, apprenticeships provide a well-rounded education that is both comprehensive and practical. This blend of experience enriches the participants’ knowledge base, preparing them for successful careers.
