Over 400 Hays Travel employees gathered at the Fire Station for the agency’s celebrated summer garden party.

What started as a small gathering at the home of the founders has evolved into a key annual event celebrating the agency’s ongoing success.

    A Historical Celebration

The much-anticipated Hays Travel summer garden party has once again brought together over 400 colleagues at the Fire Station, a theatre and bar adjacent to the agency’s Sunderland head office. This annual event, which began decades ago at the home of the company’s founders, the late John Hays and Dame Irene Hays, has grown into a significant occasion for celebrating the agency’s continued success.

Dame Irene Hays and chief operating officer Jonathon Woodall-Johnston welcomed each guest with a drink, marking two decades since Woodall-Johnston commenced his career with Hays Travel. His speech underscored the company’s evolution and the collective effort behind its achievements.

    Music and Festivities

Entertainment was a highlight, with local DJ Mojaxx delivering engaging sets and live performances by the band Cool as Vegas. A nostalgic sing-along to Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ classic hit ‘Come on Eileen,’ reworked as ‘Come on Irene,’ paid homage to Dame Irene Hays.

Alongside the music, street food and an array of beverages were available, ensuring guests had a memorable experience. The transformation of the site into a festival-like setting, complete with a lawned dance floor, reflected the event’s vibrant atmosphere.

    Recognising Hard Work

Dame Irene Hays emphasised the importance of this gathering as a moment to appreciate the dedication of all Hays Travel employees. She acknowledged that the success of Hays Travel is built on the hard work of both visible and behind-the-scenes team members.

In her address, Dame Irene extended gratitude towards their Fire Station neighbours for hosting the event for the second consecutive year. She highlighted the blend of tradition and innovation that characterises Hays Travel’s journey.

    Overcoming Challenges

Despite the rain, the event’s atmosphere remained joyful. Guests demonstrated resilience, continuing to celebrate and enjoy the festivities without interruption.

The adaptability and positive spirit of the attendees mirrored the broader ethos of Hays Travel, a company known for its perseverance and innovative approach in the face of industry challenges.

    Community and Togetherness

This year’s party was not just a celebration of the agency’s achievements but also a testament to the close-knit community within Hays Travel. The sense of camaraderie was palpable as colleagues shared laughs and stories, reinforcing the bonds that contribute to the company’s strong corporate culture.

The event served as a reminder of the value of unity and mutual support within a large organisation, where each employee’s contribution is recognised and valued.

    Looking Forward

Hays Travel’s commitment to celebrating success while fostering a sense of community is evident through such events. This garden party not only commemorates past achievements but also sets a positive tone for future endeavours.

Dame Irene’s speech encapsulated the forward-looking vision of Hays Travel as it continues to innovate and grow, promising more milestones and opportunities for celebration in the years to come.

The Hays Travel summer garden party stands as a testament to the agency’s enduring success and community spirit.

With a blend of tradition and forward-thinking, Hays Travel continues to build on its strong foundation, celebrating the contributions of every team member.
