The Vertical Travel Group is strategically poised to launch a cruise division by January, signalling a significant expansion within the company.

With aspirations to capitalise on the growing ocean cruise market, the group intends to collaborate closely with top cruise sellers.

The Vertical Travel Group is embarking on an ambitious expansion to introduce a dedicated cruise division, leveraging the anticipated growth within the ocean cruise sector. The firm aims to work collaboratively with leading cruise sellers to enhance overall group prosperity. Peter Healey, a prominent figure within the group, articulated this vision, emphasising the necessity to harness untapped potential in the ocean cruise market.

Presently, cruises contribute approximately 17% to 18% of The Vertical Travel Group’s total turnover. This figure, according to Peter Healey, primarily stems from a select few individuals managing numerous bookings. He highlights the need to double this contribution, pointing out the significant opportunities lying untapped, particularly within the ocean cruise segment.

In light of the growing interest in ocean cruising, Healey acknowledges the significant momentum in this area. However, he notes a disparity in recovery rates, remarking that river cruising has not bounced back with equal vigour post-Covid-19 pandemic. The group is prioritising efforts on ocean cruising due to its burgeoning potential and widespread appeal.

To underpin this strategic initiative, The Vertical Travel Group is assembling a specialised head office team focused on cruising. This team will play a pivotal role in streamlining integration processes and fortifying strategic partnerships. A key partnership exists with MSC Cruises, owing to a significant volume of UK departures, underscoring the group’s commitment to nurturing fruitful supplier relationships.

Healey notes a strong desire for expansion on the supplier side of the market. With more cruise lines positioning additional ships in the UK, The Vertical Travel Group sees abundant opportunities to augment its business operations and client offerings. This increased supplier activity reflects the sector’s growth potential and the group’s readiness to deepen its market penetration.

The travel industry’s recovery from the pandemic presents unique opportunities. The Vertical Travel Group is positioning itself to leverage these opportunities through strategic initiatives and partnerships. The cruise division, while still in its infancy, symbolises the group’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to capturing potential growth within the travel sector.

Looking ahead, this expansion aligns with broader industry trends toward increased cruise popularity. With a dedicated team and strategic alliances, The Vertical Travel Group is poised to capitalise on emerging trends, enhance its market presence, and deliver added value to customers.

In anticipation of the division’s launch, considerable efforts are being made to ensure seamless operations. The emphasis is on comprehensive planning and meticulous execution to facilitate a smooth entry into this vibrant sector. This preparatory phase is crucial to achieving the group’s long-term vision.

The Vertical Travel Group’s forthcoming cruise division promises to enhance its market position.

Through strategic partnerships and an expanded focus on ocean cruising, the group is set to realise substantial growth.
