Wonky Sheep Travel, a Cardiff-based agency, is set to launch its inaugural escorted tour to Argentina. This tour aims to commemorate St David’s Day in the Welsh-speaking region of Patagonia.
Primarily focused on sports and business travel, Wonky Sheep is expanding its portfolio to include leisure travel, guided by significant demand from clients keen on unique experiences.
Wonky Sheep Travel has traditionally been involved in organising sports and business travel. However, the Welsh agency is making a strategic pivot towards the leisure market. This shift was prompted by rising interest from their client base.
Dave Dulin, the owner of Wonky Sheep Travel, explained that the inspiration for this tour came from friends who expressed a desire to visit Patagonia on St David’s Day. This growing interest has motivated the agency to plan the two-week tour in Argentina.
The itinerary for the tour includes stops at iconic locations such as Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, and Mendoza. Travellers will reach Patagonia by March 1, 2025, aligning their visit with St David’s Day celebrations.
The total cost for the tour starts at £3,495, inclusive of flights. This offers a comprehensive experience, blending cultural immersion with breathtaking landscapes.
The focus on Patagonia is due to its unique Welsh heritage, stemming from 19th-century migrations. Visitors will experience this cultural blend firsthand, enhancing the tour’s appeal.
Wonky Sheep Travel’s approach to trip planning is highly client-centric. Dulin stated, “If there’s enough interest in something, then we’ll look at doing it.”
The company’s journey began with organising stag dos on request. Football travel soon followed, becoming their largest sector, with Official Wales Fan Travel and Scotland Fan Travel among their prominent offerings.
This Argentina tour is just the beginning. Dulin revealed that the agency is planning additional escorted tours designed to cater to clients’ bucket lists.
The company is considering destinations such as Japan and other less-explored locations. They are also exploring the possibility of offering European tours and city breaks featuring unique ‘must-do’ elements.
Wonky Sheep Travel is open to collaboration with other agents to enhance their tour offerings.
Dulin highlighted that they are always on the lookout for new partnerships to bring more diversified travel experiences to their clients.
The agency’s flexibility and willingness to work with others make them a valuable player in the travel industry, especially as they expand into new markets.
While maintaining a Welsh focus, Wonky Sheep Travel aims to attract travellers from across the UK.
Their goal is to offer experiences that are not only culturally significant but also globally appealing, thereby drawing a broader audience.
This strategy underscores their commitment to providing unique and memorable travel experiences.
Wonky Sheep Travel’s new escorted tour to Argentina is a testament to their growing commitment to leisure travel. By focusing on client demand and cultural experiences, they are positioning themselves as a versatile and client-focused travel agency.
As they continue to diversify their offerings, the agency is likely to attract a wider audience, eager for unique and well-crafted travel experiences.
