Voted best in the world by travellers – a budget hotel in Crete where it costs just £26 per night.
Holidayers who used search site Travel Republic stated that the Aegean Sky Hotel in Crete was their favourite place to stay for the second year running. It was rated above more expensive hotels all over the world, with a score of 9.58 out of 10.
The staff were said to be extremely friendly, it location central to amenities and has great facilities, such as a swimming pool. Travellers also praised the accuracy of its brochure, with all pictures showing a true to life representation of the resort.
The annual list is made up of only those hotels that receive a minimum of 25 reviews. Properties from all over the world are considered, including beach resorts and city centre spots.
Runners up included the Corinthia Hotel, Budapest and Cerro Mar Garden, Portugal.
Top destination for the best hotels was Grand Canaria, with three hotels in the top ten; the Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel, the Gloria Palace Royal Hotel And Spa and the Morasol Suites Hotel took fifth, sixth and eighth place respectively.
