Six Flags Magic Mountain Launches New Ride Experience

Six Flags Magic Mountain, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment, today launched their next generation of thrills with the debut of the new ride experience, SUPERMAN: Escape from Krypton. Taking the record-breaking 100-mph-in-seven-seconds feature and elevating it to the next level of extreme by reversing the direction of the vehicles and sending riders shooting backwards up 41-stories into the sky, SUPERMAN: Escape from Krypton leaves riders hanging for several seconds of weightlessness before they plummet back to earth … face first!

Unlike traditional coasters, this one blasts riders at 100 mph backwards in newly-designed sleeker cars on a dual track that spans 900 feet and looms 415 feet in the air, forming a gigantic “L” shaped superstructure that has been repainted a vibrant blue and red with a yellow track, and branded with a giant Superman “S” shield at the top that can been seen miles away.

“Six Flags is known internationally as the industry leader in next generation thrills. Since it opened in 1995, SUPERMAN The Escape, has been one of the most popular thrill rides in the world,” said Bonnie Rabjohn, Six Flags Magic Mountain Park President. “By redesigning the cars and turning them backwards, this rollercoaster provides even the most daring thrill seekers a new and unique ride experience that only Six Flags Magic Mountain can deliver.”

Themed to the legend of one of DC Comic’s greatest super heroes, Superman, this rollercoaster is an unrivaled experience. The adventure begins moments before the destruction of Superman’s home world, Krypton, located high atop the park’s mountain ridge. Riders begin their journey in 14-passenger vehicles aerodynamically designed for intense speed. State-of-the-art electro-magnetic motors blast the five-ton vehicles out of Krypton backwards, accelerating from 0 to 100 mph in seven seconds. Riders will experience several seconds of weightlessness at the peak of the 41-story-tall tower and then slowly begin the descent back to Krypton. As the sleek vehicles freefall straight down the skyscraper, they will once again enter the 100 mph speed zone before safely returning to earth.

“Six Flags Magic Mountain has taken one of their most popular coasters and transformed it, delivering a whole new dimension of extreme experiences,” stated Steve Berto, ACE Southern California Regional Representative. “There’s no better way to continue to live up to their reputation as the best thrill park.”

Six Flags Magic Mountain is located at 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway, in Valencia, north of Los Angeles off Interstate 5 at the Magic Mountain Parkway exit. The Park is currently open weekends and will open for daily operation on March 26. For information visit us online at sixflags.com.
