Aer Lingus Regional, which is operated by Emerald Airlines, has recently increased connectivity to Belfast City Airport by starting new services to and from Newcastle and the Isle of Man.

Operated by an ATR-72, the new Newcastle route flies daily.

Chris Ion of Newcastle International Airport said: ‘We are pleased to welcome Aer Lingus Regional’s daily service between Newcastle and Belfast City Airport. This investment provides convenient and flexible access to the heart of Belfast, as well as increasing opportunities for the attraction of inbound tourists to the North East of England.’

Ellie McGimpsey, Aviation Development Manager at Belfast City Airport, said: ‘Since the first Aer Lingus Regional flights operated by Emerald Airlines took off in spring 2022, we have seen the airline grow its route network from Belfast City Airport in response to sustained high demand.

‘We have no doubt that these new routes to Newcastle and the Isle of Man will also prove hugely popular, and we look forward to continuing and developing our successful partnership.’

Aer Lingus Regional also commenced a new service linking Belfast City with the Isle of Man from April 24. The route will initially be operated four times per week, increasing to six weekly flights for the peak summer season.

‘We are delighted to be bolstering our Belfast City schedule by adding a new link between Belfast and the Isle of Man,’ said Conor McCarthy Executive Chairman of Emerald Airlines.

Katy Best, Commercial Director at Belfast City added: ‘This new service to Isle of Man will be the 13th Aer Lingus route from Belfast City providing excellent choice for passengers this summer.

‘The airline will also operate new routes to East Midlands, Jersey, Newcastle and Newquay. This is in addition to its existing services to Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Southampton.’

With the airline gradually boosting its summer 2023 schedule, it will be adding 200,000 extra seats from Belfast City Airport as it already operates flights to Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newquay and Southampton from its Belfast hub.
