    Great Rail Journeys Implements Strategic Leadership Changes Amid Growth

    Great Rail Journeys is making notable internal changes across its leadership teams in both the UK and US.

    These changes come in the wake of a remarkable 30% growth, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering talent and expanding its operations.

    Great Rail Journeys has announced significant promotions within its UK and US leadership teams, aiming to align its organisational structure with its growth trajectory.

    Sarah McMullen, previously the head of people, has been appointed as the director of people, overseeing these strategic changes and the development of a diverse team across continents.

    In the US, Liz Owens has been elevated to the position of senior vice-president and general manager of Vacations By Rail. Her leadership has been pivotal in the brand’s double-digit growth since her appointment in 2022.

    Owens will now lead the sales and service teams across the US, reflecting her significant contributions and strategic vision.

    Missy Paul has taken on the role of director of independent operations at Vacations By Rail.

    In her previous role, Paul was instrumental as the head of operations, and will now focus on expanding the programme to align with the company’s growth strategies.

    These changes are part of a broader strategic initiative to maintain and accelerate the company’s expansion goals.

    Dave Riley, the group chief executive, expressed his satisfaction with the promotions, emphasising the importance of nurturing both veteran and emerging talent.

    He stated, “It is fantastic that we are able to retain and develop both our long-serving teammates and newer team members as we navigate the next phase of our great journey.”
