    • The event will occur from October 6 to October 8 at Calvia Beach Resort.
    • Calvià marks its first hosting of this esteemed travel event.
    • Significant investments have enhanced Calvià’s tourism infrastructure.
    • Majorca’s evolving appeal to UK travellers underlines its selection.

Calvià in Majorca has been chosen as the prestigious venue for Abta’s 2025 Travel Convention. The event is scheduled from October 6 to October 8 at the newly renovated Calvia Beach Resort. This marks a significant occasion, as Calvià becomes a first-time host for the convention, continuing Majorca’s legacy of welcoming this event each decade since the 1970s.

Substantial investments have been made in upgrading Calvià’s tourism facilities, notably the ongoing redevelopment of the seafront at Magaluf. These enhancements underscore Majorca’s commitment to maintaining its status as a premier travel destination in the Mediterranean.

Delegates attending the convention will be accommodated in two ultra-modern hotels, the Meliá Calvià Beach and the Meliá South Beach, both offering state-of-the-art amenities including à la carte seafront dining, outdoor pools, spas, and conference facilities. The resort is conveniently located just a 30-minute transfer from Palma airport, ensuring ease of access for international attendees.

The convention’s host partner is the Calvià Tourist Board, with additional support from Turespaña. Mark Tanzer, the chief executive of Abta, expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting Majorca’s continuous appeal to UK holidaymakers and its historical significance in hosting the convention regularly.

Juan Antonio Amengual, the mayor of Calvià, expressed his pride, noting the convention as a testament to Calvià’s transformative journey and its focus on becoming a leading Mediterranean destination. José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, Majorca’s Tourism Councillor, added that the event symbolises a boost for responsible tourism policies in the region, promoting coexistence between tourists and residents.
