Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives, the idyllic island playground resort renowned for its stunning natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere, is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Art Lab and Teen Hut, conceptualised and brought to life by the renowned design studio, Muza Lab. This addition redefines creative experiences in the resort, blending art, play, and relaxation, while continuing to build out their multi-generational offering.
Designed to inspire creativity and connection, the Art Lab and Teen Hut reflect Muza Lab’s signature style of weaving culture, colour, and storytelling into spaces. The two buildings harmoniously merge modern aesthetics with Maldivian heritage, creating a sanctuary for all ages.
Muza Lab chose bamboo as the main material for both structures as it is environmentally friendly and easy to manipulate, ensuring the interiors’ colourful decorations truly stand out against natural bamboo tones. The exteriors are made from bamboo, taking the same aesthetic from the inside to the outside.
With creativity, play and interaction as the main goals of both the Art Lab and Teen Hut, Muza Lab included creative and inspiring elements in its design process. The spaces have been fitted with a variety of textures and colours to stimulate the mind and body and allow creativity to flow freely.
Art Lab : A hub for creative expression
The new Art Lab invites guests of all ages to unleash their creativity. Tucked in dense greenery, the studio offers guided workshops in painting and pottery. The bespoke design fosters a creative environment, featuring bamboo structures, bright open spaces, and Maldivian touches. For Muza Lab it was important for guest to be able to feel relaxed with their toes in the sand while working on their next creative art piece.
Teens Club: A vibrant playground for adventure and connection
Catering to the resort’s younger guests, the Teen Hut is a dynamic space that blends fun with relaxation. Designed for teenagers aged 12 to 17, the club features cutting-edge gaming zones, a bar embellished with shells and sea glass, where teens can create innovative mocktails as well as enjoy a movie lounge, an outdoor games area and a music haven on the second floor, with a stage, a variety of instruments and a karaoke machine.
Muza Lab focused on fitting the space with furniture that would be appealing to the “TikTok-able” or “Instagramable” generation. However, it was also essential to Muza Lab and Finolhu to provide enough activities and amenities to bring teens away from their digital devices and enjoy the space around them and each other.
“I believe these spaces were created to be more inclusive and are designed to be used by guests. They aren’t just something to look at. It also provides opportunity for workshops and meetings as well as community by interacting with other guests in a collaborative environment.” – Inge Moore, Founder of Muza Lab
“At Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives, we’re proud to introduce our new Art Lab and Teen Hut, thoughtfully designed to enrich the experience for multi-gen families. The Art Lab offers a creative oasis for guests of all ages to explore their artistic side, while the Teen Hut provides a dynamic space for younger guests to connect, unwind, and make their own memories. These additions ensure that every member of the multigenerational family can find joy and fulfilment during their stay in our island paradise.” – Steven Phillips, General Manager of Finolhu Baa Atoll
