ATPI Halo Helps IADC-SAPC Achieve Carbon-Neutral Chapter Meetings Through CO2 Tracking and Offsetting

ATPI, a global leader in travel management and a strong advocate for sustainability, has reinforced its carbon reduction expertise through a successful collaboration with the Southern Arabian Peninsula Chapter of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC-SAPC).

Through its ATPI Halo service, the travel management company assisted IADC-SAPC in accurately tracking and offsetting its CO2 emissions, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable travel solutions. The partnership, which began in 2024, enabled ATPI to monitor the carbon footprint of IADC-SAPC’s chapter meetings over the past year.

ATPI Halo, a core component of the company’s sustainability strategy, offers a comprehensive approach to CO2 measurement, reduction, and compensation for travel and events. With advanced data collection and precise analysis, ATPI Halo’s sustainability experts provided IADC-SAPC with detailed carbon footprint assessments, supporting responsible travel choices.

This report was shared with members of the chapter to demonstrate a greater understanding and awareness of their individual and collective environmental impact. The accuracy of this report was aided by working alongside suppliers who shared ATPI’s commitment to sustainability and provided definitive proof of where actions could be taken to reduce avoidable CO2 emissions. As a result, ATPI Halo was able to provide a comprehensive and accurate CO2 calculation for each chapter meeting held in 2024, leading to informed decisions when working with venues and suppliers to drive efficiencies and reduce emissions.

Following the first year of the partnership, IADC-SAPC announced it had achieved carbon-neutral chapter meetings thanks to the support received from ATPI. This milestone was delivered in line with IADC-SAPC’s overall objectives of achieving complete carbon neutrality.

This was partially achieved via IADC-SAPC’s contribution towards ATPI Halo’s Gold Standard-certified carbon offsetting project, ‘Improved Kitchen Regimes in Malawi’. Part of ATPI Halo’s carbon compensation portfolio, the ‘Improved Kitchen Regimes’ project focuses on rehabilitating boreholes to provide clean water to communities across Malawi.

This partnership will continue throughout 2025 as ATPI looks to expand the ways in which it supports IADC-SAPC to effectively measure, advise, and compensate its CO2 footprint.

Lynn Coutts, ATPI Middle East Managing Director, commented: “Completing our first offset with IADC-SAPC is a significant milestone for ATPI Halo and for the IADC-SAPC itself. Our ATPI Halo service is an immensely important asset for us. It is very much one of the cornerstones of our mission to drive sustainability. Our first year supporting IADC-SAPC in its CO2 reduction efforts is another impressive feat in ATPI Halo’s growing track record.”

Pippa Ganderton, Director of ATPI Halo, added: “On a collective level, we have clearly been able to demonstrate the effectiveness of ATPI Halo in measuring and illustrating the chapters footprint. However, it doesn’t stop there. By increasing awareness on an individual level, we believe that we provide people with the understanding to make more environmentally responsible decisions going forward, supported by their newfound awareness of their own CO2 footprint. As we continue with this partnership, we look forward to identifying new ways to help IADC-SAPC make a difference.”

Wayne Bauer, Chairman of IADC-SAPC, commented: “The IADC-SAPC is proud to announce its partnership with ATPI to host Net Zero chapter meetings. This collaboration reflects our commitment to sustainability by ensuring that all aspects of our meetings, from travel to logistics, are aligned with a carbon-neutral approach. By joining forces with ATPI, we aim to set a new standard for sustainable practices within the industry and demonstrate that achieving net zero is not only possible, but essential for the future of energy. Together, we are excited to lead the way in reducing environmental impact and supporting the global energy transition.”
