Eastern Airways, a provider of flights to the most popular UK & European airports, has announced plans to offer non-stop flights between Norwich International Airport and Aberdeen on Sundays with a more convenient later departure time, Norwich Airport has said.
Starting September 14, 2014, the Sunday service will depart Norwich at 6.15 pm, arriving in Aberdeen at 7.35pm. From Aberdeen, Sunday flights will depart at 8pm, arriving in Norwich at 9.20pm. Lead-in fares start from £99 one way, including taxes and charges.
While the service will particularly benefit oil workers heading offshore early on a Monday morning and other business commuters, it is also expected to attract leisure travellers. The Sunday service is in addition to Eastern Airways’ year-round choice of weekday departures, with up to three flights a day from Norwich to Aberdeen.
Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director, said: ‘We are always looking at opportunities to further improve services and we’re now in a position to provide a non-stop Sunday service, which will reduce journey times for Norwich customers and allows us to offer an improved later departure time to Aberdeen.’
Andrew Bell, chief executive of Norwich International Airport, said: ‘Eastern Airways’ decision to operate a non-stop Aberdeen service from Norwich on a Sunday evening is very welcome, and further improves the connections that Norwich Airport can offer to the energy industry and travelling public in East Anglia.’
Additionally, scheduled passengers of Eastern Airways benefit from a fast track security channel at Aberdeen airport to avoid any queues at security search, enabling the airline to close check-in just 30 minutes before the departure time.
Eastern Airways also offers a newly refurbished business lounge at Aberdeen Airport for all its scheduled passengers. Complimentary drinks and snacks are offered on board the aircraft and there is no charge for check-in, baggage or choice of seat.
