Air Malta has announced an extra four services from Cardiff Airport, Wales Online has reported.

The additional flights will start on Tuesday April 8, four weeks earlier than originally planned, to satisfy expected public demand over the Spring/Easter period. The direct flights from Cardiff Airport to Malta are scheduled to depart every Tuesday through to October 21.

Jon Horne, Cardiff Airport’s chief executive, said: ‘It’s great that Air Malta is expanding its operation from Cardiff, helping to continue the strong historic links that exist between the island and Wales.

‘Air Malta is one of six national airlines with a presence at Cardiff and, with passenger numbers last month showing a 17 percent year on year increase, this all adds to the growth of the Airport.’

Also, Norwich Airport said that Air Malta will launch additional flights from Norwich International. The Maltese airline will add an extra four departures as a prelude to its summer 2014 charter season.

The additional flights will also commence on Tuesday 8th April 2014, four weeks earlier than originally planned to satisfy public demand to the Mediterranean sunshine island over the Spring/Easter period. The direct flights from Norwich airport to Malta are scheduled to depart weekly through to October 21, 2014.

Andrew Bell, the airport’s chief executive, commented: ‘Malta is an exceptionally popular destination from our region and we are pleased that Air Malta has taken the decision to increase their services and enhance the travel options from Norwich International in the Spring of 2014.’

Air Malta offers a free allowance of 20 kgs for checked-in baggage in the hold, and also 10 kgs as hand-luggage per person on all its flights. Flights are available to book via various tour operators and travel agents, and also from the airline’s portal, www.airmalta.com
