London City Airport has significantly reduced its passenger queue times by 50% following the implementation of new security technology.

One year ago, the airport introduced advanced computed tomography (CT) security scanners, allowing liquids and laptops to remain in hand luggage, streamlining the security process and enhancing passenger satisfaction.

London City Airport has made a significant leap forward in airport security technology. In April 2023, it became the first UK airport to fully integrate next-generation computed tomography (CT) scanners. This advancement allows passengers to leave liquids and laptops in their hand luggage, simplifying the security screening process significantly.

The introduction of these state-of-the-art scanners has markedly improved the efficiency of security checks. Passengers have reported a reduction in queue times by 50%, making travel through London City Airport faster and more convenient. Feedback from airport users indicates that approximately 80% have expressed satisfaction with the new system.

Other airports have been encouraged to adopt this technology, yet the government has extended the deadline for its mandatory implementation on a case-by-case basis.

These CT scanners allow passengers to carry up to two litres of liquid, deviating from the long-standing restrictions. This change is significant, as it enhances the user experience while maintaining robust security measures.

The increase in leisure travel suggests that improved airport processes have contributed positively to passenger decisions and preferences.

Passengers have been advised to adhere to existing security regulations and contact their respective airlines or airports for updates on security processes. This ensures preparedness and a smooth travel experience.

The installation of CT scanners at London City Airport represents a pivotal improvement in airport operations. This technological adoption not only accelerates security processes but also enhances passenger satisfaction significantly.

London City Airport’s commitment to cutting-edge technology has visibly improved the traveller experience and set new benchmarks for efficiency.

As the airport continues to lead in technology-driven enhancements, it sets the stage for broader implementation across the UK, ensuring both speed and security for passengers.
