Northern Ireland is set to benefit from enhanced connectivity to KLM’s global network with the announcement of doubled flights from Belfast to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

Starting 28th October, a second daily service will be introduced, providing morning departures in addition to the existing afternoon flights. This development is a significant boost to the region’s accessibility.

The introduction of an additional daily flight is a testament to the robust partnership between KLM and Belfast City Airport. Katy Best, chief commercial officer of Belfast City Airport, expressed her satisfaction, highlighting how the new schedule offers enhanced flexibility and choice for both business and leisure passengers. This strategic move aligns with their continued efforts to offer seamless global connectivity.

Jerome Salemi, Air France-KLM UK and Ireland general manager, expressed delight over the flight expansion, which connects Northern Ireland to a broader selection of cities globally, including Istanbul, Budapest, and Rio de Janeiro. The additional morning flight enables day return trips, enhancing convenience for passengers.

Northern Ireland, renowned for its spectacular scenery, rich heritage, and warm hospitality, is poised to benefit from this expanded service. The increased flights will significantly contribute to tourism development by accommodating more tourists and providing efficient travel options.

Tourism Ireland is actively collaborating with KLM and Belfast City Airport to drive demand for this new service. The organisation values the strengthened ties with air and sea partners. This collaboration facilitates bringing overseas visitors to Northern Ireland, thereby supporting the local economy through increased tourism.

A more connected region can draw international businesses, investors, and tourists, boosting local enterprises and hospitality industries. This increased global access positions Northern Ireland as a more attractive destination for both business and pleasure.

This development underscores a commitment to enhancing logistical efficiency, supporting both corporate and tourist travel needs. By enabling same-day trips, businesses can save on accommodation costs and maximise productivity.

Moving forward, these enhancements in air travel will support Northern Ireland’s strategic goals in tourism and economic development, reinforcing its position on the global map.

The doubling of flights between Belfast and Amsterdam marks a pivotal development for Northern Ireland’s connectivity to the world.

This initiative not only enhances travel flexibility but also supports tourism and economic growth, reinforcing Northern Ireland as an accessible and attractive destination.
