Merlin Travel Group is commemorating its fifth anniversary by launching a series of fam trips in 2025 to reward their agents.

These trips, under the ‘Five for Five’ initiative, are designed to appreciate the dedication and hard work of the team over the past five years.

    Celebrating a Milestone

Merlin Travel Group is marking its five-year anniversary with a unique initiative, aptly named “Five for Five”. This plan demonstrates their commitment to acknowledging the contributions of their team members, particularly the hardworking agents. The initiative comprises five familiarisation (fam) trips designed as a token of appreciation for the dedication shown by its workforce over the recent years.

    A Diverse Range of Destinations

The travel company intends to offer a mix of long-haul and short-haul fam trips, in addition to a cruise journey, to cater to diverse interests. According to Garry Butcher, the managing director, “We are still working out the destinations, but India and Barbados are confirmed.” Such strategic destination selection showcases Merlin Travel Group’s adaptive planning to provide enriching experiences for its agents.

    Strategic Partnerships with Suppliers

Merlin Travel Group plans to leverage strong partnerships with key suppliers to facilitate these trips. Collaborations with suppliers are crucial in ensuring the best possible experiences for the agents. These relationships not only help in negotiating favourable terms but also ensure that each trip is well-rounded and memorable.

The support from suppliers is a testament to the company’s stature within the travel industry. By collaborating closely, suppliers and the travel group are able to tailor the trips to specific preferences and ensure a high standard of quality and satisfaction for its agents.

    Emphasis on Agent Rewards

As part of the reward system, Merlin Travel Group implemented a 2.5% commission uplift for its agents in August, recognising their invaluable support. This commission increase aligns with the company’s broader strategy to motivate and retain its talented workforce.

Such financial incentives serve not only as a token of appreciation but also as a strategic move to foster a positive working environment, thereby enhancing productivity and loyalty.

    The Planned Fam Trips

In addition to India and Barbados, destinations like Kenya or South Africa are under consideration for the upcoming fam trips. The cruise trip, anticipated to be the largest, is expected to accommodate around 20 cabins, further broadening the scope of experiences available to participants.

The comprehensive plan for these trips reflects Merlin Travel Group’s dynamic approach to enriching the professional lives of their agents through exposure to diverse cultures and markets.

These fam trips are not merely leisure activities but are strategic tools for professional development. They enable agents to gain a deeper understanding of various destinations, which can, in turn, potentially enhance their sales capabilities.

    Celebration Event and Future Prospects

The company also hosted an anniversary party to celebrate its achievements with staff, further reinforcing its commitment to employee engagement. This event was not just a celebration but also a platform to discuss future opportunities and strategic directions.

Such events play a critical role in boosting morale across the company, providing employees with a sense of community and belonging.

    Commitment to Ongoing Growth

Merlin Travel Group’s initiatives are a reflection of its ongoing commitment to growth and excellence. By investing in its people, the company not only aims to reward past successes but also to lay a strong foundation for future endeavours. This dual approach ensures that the company remains a competitive and attractive option within the travel industry.
