Seaborne Airlines, an airline based in the United States Virgin Islands, will be commencing operations from the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in October 2012. The company will be operating two flights daily between San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico, and the Terrence B Lettsome International Airport in the BVI, from October 1 this year. The company will be flying a Saab 340B aircraft with the capacity to seat up to 34 passengers per flight, and the company plans to expand its portfolio of aircraft in the next few months to offer more routes in the region.…
Bournemouth Airport, an airport on the UK’s south coast, has announced a ten-year master plan for the development of a business area at its Aviation Business Park. The 540,000 square feet of area will include offices, industrial units, warehousing and distribution facilities, as well as aviation facilities to include new hangars. The 200-acre Aviation Business Park at Bournemouth Airport currently offers 1.6m sq ft of business space and hosts around 200 businesses, providing around 2,500 jobs to the local economy. Dubai International airport has said that its purpose-built A380 facility, Concourse 3, will be a foodie’s delight. The airport said that it would introduce 16 public food outlets and bars to the facility that will provide a diverse choice of cuisine for the discerning traveller. The food and beverage options available at the airport will include Giraffe, the health-food family restaurant, and other prominent names in the food industry such as McDonalds, Starbucks and Paul. US-based car rental firm, Hertz, has announced that it has launched a boat-renting service in Amsterdam. The firm said that its new Netherlands-based service would allow travellers to explore the city using the waterways. The charge will be EUR5 per hour of boating. Called Hertz Rent a Boat, the service will offer customers motorboats, taxis and open boats. Those that need a bigger boat can opt for one at a price of EUR150. The UK Department for Transport has signed an agreement with Agility Trains, a consortium of Hitachi Rail Europe and John Laing Investments, for the Intercity Express Programme (IEP). The GBP4.5 billion contract will be executed to provide a fleet of intercity trains for commuters in the UK. The contract is expected to generate around 900 employment opportunities for local economies and includes trains, maintenance depots, and route upgrades. Chiltern Railways, a UK-based train company operating on the London Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill route, has unveiled its new timetable for the upcoming 20102 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to be held in London from July 27, 2012.
