Seaborne Airlines to Offer Services to British Virgin Islands

Seaborne Airlines, an airline based in the United States Virgin Islands, will be commencing operations from the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in October 2012.

The company will be operating two flights daily between San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico, and the Terrence B Lettsome International Airport in the BVI, from October 1 this year.

The company will be flying a Saab 340B aircraft with the capacity to seat up to 34 passengers per flight, and the company plans to expand its portfolio of aircraft in the next few months to offer more routes in the region.

In a statement to newsismybusiness.com, the president of Seaborne Airlines, Omer Erselcuk, said, ‘The Saab is the perfect blend of comfort, speed, fuel efficiency and size. Larger aircrafts cannot provide the higher level of frequency the travelling public prefers, while smaller aircrafts tend to miss on comfort. We believe the Saab is the best aircraft to help us grow our existing and new planned markets.’

Russell Harrigan, the chairman of the BVI Tourist Board, said, ‘The addition of Seaborne Airlines to our carrier fleet is one of the interim measures that the Premier’s office and the board has embarked upon in order to get tourists to the BVI in a cost effective and efficient way. We welcome Seaborne Airlines to our shores and hope that this will be the beginning of a long and equally beneficial relationship between the BVI and this Airline.’

Seaborne Airlines is based in Christiansted, St Croix, and currently employs around 150 airline professionals to provide its services.
