Virgin Atlantic has said that it will restart its flights to Shanghai, re-establishing both business and leisure connections between the United Kingdom and China. The move comes following a relaxation in travel restrictions between the two countries, which sees the borders reopening to foreign nationals for the first time since 2020. Shanghai is Virgin Atlantic’s final route to be re-instated following the global pandemic, having been closed for a total of 859 days at the point of its relaunch. British Airways has announced that it will resume flights between the UK and mainland China this summer. The resumption comes after a two-year absence following the Coronavirus pandemic. British Airways first flew to China in 1980 and continued to do so until the pandemic. As it resumes the services, tickets are now on sale for flights to Shanghai from April 23 and Beijing from June 3. Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have expanded their Winter 23/24 schedule, adding extra capacity to Turkey (Dalaman and Antalya) and Cyprus (Paphos). The expansion represents an extra 32,000 seats going on sale, offering customers and independent travel agents more than 4.3 million seats on sale in total for Winter 23/24. Delta Air Lines has said that it is increasing its Edinburgh Airport to Atlanta service to a daily service thanks to continued strong demand for transatlantic travel. Emirates is set to resume its second daily service to Dubai from London Stansted as demand picks up.
