A survey carried out by Skyscanner, a UK-based flight cost comparison company, has revealed that the majority of those polled would welcome the option of a budget airline when planning a long haul flight. Solis Hotels and Resorts, a US-based hotel company, will be opening a new luxury property the Solis Lake Tai, Suzhou, in Suzhou, China. The company is currently developing the 300-room hotel overlooking Lake Tai, and located close to Shanghai. It is expected to open in 2013. International Airlines Group (IAG), the UK-based parent company of British Airways, has announced the sale of its subsidiary, BMI Regional airline, to Sector Aviation Holdings, a Scotland-based holding company. The sale was finalised for £8 million, and the transaction includes 18 of the airline’s Embraer jets that fly to 14 destinations in the UK and Northern Europe from UK regional airports, including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and East Midlands. London Gatwick Airport has announced the commencement of its summer season with an increased load factor and new international flights. In April 2012, the airport registered its total number of passengers as 2.7 million, a reduction of 1.3 percent from the total for April 2011, while the load factor has increased in April 2012 by 1.2 percent, compared to April 2011.
