Vietnam Airlines has officially inaugurated a new direct service linking Hanoi (HAN) and Cebu (CEB), further expanding its international network and strengthening air connectivity between Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The route provides travellers with easier access to some of the region’s most popular resort destinations.
The inaugural Hanoi–Cebu flight marked a milestone for the carrier, underscoring its commitment to enhancing regional travel options and supporting tourism growth across Southeast Asia.
Flight VN643, operated by an Airbus A321 with around 100 passengers on board, departed Noi Bai International Airport at 22:50 on 2 December and arrived at Cebu International Airport at 03:30 local time on 3 December. To commemorate the launch, Vietnam Airlines organised welcome events at both airports and presented souvenirs to passengers on the inaugural service.
This new connection represents Vietnam Airlines’ first direct route between the Vietnamese capital and one of the Philippines’ most sought-after tourist destinations. Cebu is widely known for its unspoilt islands, cultural heritage and broad range of experiences, including beach retreats, water sports, culinary attractions and outdoor adventures, making it a strong draw for leisure travellers.
Services from Hanoi to Cebu will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, while return flights from Cebu to Hanoi will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. With a flight time of approximately three hours, the direct service significantly reduces travel time between the two cities.
The route is expected to benefit Vietnamese travellers heading to Cebu, while also encouraging visitors from the Philippines to explore Hanoi, renowned for its cuisine and its proximity to destinations such as Ha Long, Ninh Binh and Sapa.
Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, said: “The Hanoi to Cebu service represents more than just a new route. It strengthens cultural and economic connections between Vietnam and the region, creating new opportunities for travel and collaboration. Vietnam Airlines is dedicated to providing safe, and high-quality services that promote tourism and foster closer ties between the two countries.”
The introduction of the Hanoi–Cebu service aligns with Vietnam Airlines’ broader strategy to grow its international footprint, particularly within Southeast Asia. The airline expects the route to support tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Philippines, while contributing to the continued development of regional aviation.
