    Places you can’t miss when visiting Barcelona

    Barcelona is a beautiful city, full of history and culture, a city in Spain worth visiting and getting to know. It enriches you with ancient architecture and its magnificent monuments and landscapes, as well as playing a vital role in Christian history. 

    It is a city with strong religious roots, which allows you to enjoy all its splendour, full of many exciting places that you should not miss.

    Holy Family (La Sagrada Familia)

    It is known to be the emblem of the city of Barcelona and its most visited monument. Construction began in 1882 and is not yet finished, hoping to be completed by 2026.

    This cathedral of the 20th century has three facades: the facade of the birth, which represents the birth of Christ, the facade of the passion, which symbolises the crucifixion of Christ, and finally there is the facade of the glory, which is dedicated to death, beauty and hell. 

    Inside, it surprises you with its many tree-like columns and its elevator to the highest point. Definitely, a place you have to see for being so representative of Barcelona.

    Montjuic 

    Very close to Plaza España, you can see the Montjuic mountain, which allows you to enjoy many of the city’s attractions, climbing the cable car or the funicular will enable you to enjoy its attractions such as 

    • The National Art Museum of Catalonia. 
    • The magic fountain.
    • The “Spanish village” theme park.
    • The ring of the Olympic Games. 
    • And last but not least, the majestic castle of Montjuic.

    Palau de la Música Catalana

    It is known as the palace of Catalan music, and its appeal comes from its beautiful and colourful interior full of mosaics. It is considered a national monument for its beauty and respect for traditional music.

    Park Güell

    It is another of Gaudi’s great works that marvel at the beautiful city of Barcelona, considered a world heritage site by UNESCO and which has its museum inside. 

    Inside you can find many statues of animals and columns in the shape of trees, which take you away from the noise and the hustle and bustle of the city. 

    Also, you will find the Calvary Monument in the park, which will give you great views. 

    Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia (Catedral de la Santa Cruz y Santa Eulalia)

    Or Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Barcelona. This magnificent cathedral is worth admiring, a sample of the Gothic style of the time which is located in an entire neighbourhood of the same manner. Inside you can see the crypts, the chapels and its spectacular choir carved in wood.

    You can also enjoy its tanks and go up to the top to see its landscapes; it is important to schedule it to go and at the same time tour the entire Gothic quarter.

    Walk of Grace (Paseo de Gracia)

    It’s a well-known street in Barcelona that allows you to see its modernist buildings and houses, several of which were made by Gaudi. A walk along this street will fill you with a lot of history of architectural art. 

    San Jorge Market or La Boqueria 

    Located on La Rambla, this is Barcelona’s favourite and most renowned market where you will see all kinds of people and be able to buy ready-made dishes and even food of all types. 

    Mirador de Colón 

    Near the San Jorge market, you can find the port from where Christopher Columbus departed on his travels; you can find a statue in his honour and enjoy the spectacular viewpoint overlooking the sea. 

    Royal Square (Plaza Real)

    This square stands out for its beauty and pleasant atmosphere, where you will be able to get involved by its movement, being one of the most lively places in Barcelona, where you will be able to eat and drink to your liking.

    Gran Teatre del Liceu

    Many singers have passed through this magnificent theatre, which is not only beautiful to listen to a great concert but also its building is imposing and worthy of visiting. 

    Pedralbes Monastery (Monasterio de Pedralbes)

    A perfectly preserved monastery from 1327, which will allow you to see how religious life was in its enclosure, enjoying its chapels and even its cells.

    Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor (Templo Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazón)

    Also known as the “magic mountain” that hides the great neo-gothic temple of the sacred heart that was completed in 1961. A temple is as big as a castle that will amaze you with its beauty and magic.
