Explora Journeys is set to redefine luxury travel with its unique shore excursions for the Explora I, promising unparalleled cultural experiences.

By focusing on small group tours and intimate encounters, Explora aims to immerse its guests in some of the world’s most captivating locations.

Innovative Shore Excursions for Explora I

Explora Journeys is preparing to embark on its inaugural set of shore excursions with Explora I, offering a remarkable range of experiences designed for its passengers. The new itinerary features eight exclusive sailings across Northern Europe, blending popular destinations with rare, unexplored ports such as Ísafjörður in Iceland and Copenhagen.

Each excursion is crafted for small, intimate groups, ranging from two to 25 guests, aiming to deliver exclusive and off-the-beaten-path encounters. The excursions strive for a leisurely travel pace, allowing guests to immerse themselves fully in the destinations. One of the highlights includes a guided Nordic walking tour in Norway, coupled with a voyage aboard a traditional Viking ship.

In Denmark, passengers can partake in a kayaking tour through the quaint waterways of Copenhagen. Meanwhile, visitors to the Faroe Islands might enjoy outdoor yoga amid serene landscapes or venture on a hike to the iconic floating lake at Leitisvatn. The diversity of options ensures a tailored experience for every traveller.

Exclusive Experiences Across the UK and Beyond

A standout offering is the helicopter tour over Reykjavik’s spectacular volcanic craters, providing an awe-inspiring aerial view of the natural wonders below. Another engaging option includes a forest hike followed by a meditation session in the scenic surroundings of Goteborg, Sweden.

Additional unique experiences are available in the Netherlands and across the UK, including VIP access to the prestigious Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Guests can also enjoy a private tour of a renowned Scottish whisky distillery, enriching their cultural understanding and appreciation.

The aim is to provide guests with authentic cultural immersion, from sampling local cuisine to exploring hidden local treasures. These experiences are part of Explora’s broader strategy of distinguishing itself in the luxury cruise market.

    Insights from Sacha Rougier

Sacha Rougier, head of itinerary planning and destination experiences at Explora, emphasised the deliberate selection and curation of these experiences. “When crafting our experiences, we first need to understand the very essence of each destination,” Rougier notes, highlighting the company’s commitment to providing a unique blend of cultural immersion and luxury.

Rougier stressed the importance of working with specially chosen tour operators who’ve quickly grasped Explora Journeys’ unique approach. This collaboration ensures guests receive a diverse range of experiences that truly reflect each location’s core attributes.

Rougier’s leadership in itinerary planning reflects Explora’s mission to differentiate itself by offering a wide array of guest experiences, all aimed at exploring the root of each destination.

    Explora I’s Upcoming Milestones

Explora I is on schedule for its official naming ceremony on 8 July 2023 in Civitavecchia, setting the stage for its maiden voyage. Departing from Southampton on 17 July, the journey marks the beginning of a new chapter for Explora Journeys.

This inaugural expedition is pivotal as Explora sets sail to redefine luxury cruising. The attention to detail in crafting not only the vessel but the guest experiences, underscores Explora’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the cruise industry.

    Future Expansion Plans: Explora II

Planning and construction are already underway for Explora II, the second ship in the fleet, poised to debut in 2024. The coin ceremony was recently completed, a traditional maritime practice symbolising good fortune and safeguarding for the vessel.

Commitment to Cultural and Experiential Immersion

Explora Journeys’ approach is rooted in the belief that travel should offer more than just sightseeing, aspiring to deliver profound cultural and personal enrichment. By integrating authentic local experiences, Explora enhances the overall voyage.

The company is focused on forging connections between guests and the destinations they visit. This involves not only exploring new places but also fostering deeper cultural appreciation and understanding through thoughtfully designed excursions.
