Not Just Travel Marks Significant Surge in Christmas Cruise Bookings

In a remarkable shift, Not Just Travel has registered a dramatic surge in cruise bookings on Christmas Day, marking a fivefold increase year-on-year.

Throughout December, the company experienced a nearly 30% rise in sales compared to the previous year, with noteworthy bookings occurring early on Christmas morning.

    Christmas Day Booking Spike

The travel agency Not Just Travel witnessed an astonishing increase in cruise bookings on Christmas Day. This year, bookings multiplied by five times compared to last year. Early risers made the first booking very early on Christmas morning, setting the tone for an impressive sales period over the holiday. The agency attributes the surge to the enticing Boxing Day sales and the availability of ample time for clients to plan travels.

    Top Travel Destinations

This year, warmer destinations have seen a surge in popularity among travellers. Not Just Travel reported high interest in locations such as Spain, the Balearics, the Canaries, Greece, and Florida. As temperatures dropped in the UK, many customers turned their sights to sunnier climates. These destinations not only promise warmth but also an escape from the routine hustle. The appeal of these hotspots was significantly reflected in the holiday bookings.

    Growing Interest in Diverse Locales

Besides the top destinations, the agency also noted increased bookings for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the UK, Italy, Cyprus, Australia, Cape Verde, and Lapland. Couples and solo travellers dominated the bookings, accounting for 70% of the clientele. This trend highlights a shift towards more adventurous and individual travel plans during this festive period. Families, however, are expected to increase their holiday bookings in the new year.

The company anticipates that its strong December sales may set a precedent for 2024. With promotional campaigns by major operators and enticing offers such as ‘free child places’, family-centric bookings are predicted to rise. Not Just Travel is preparing for what could be its most successful holiday booking period ever.

Co-founder Paul Harrison anticipates even greater engagement in 2024 as more clients seek expert travel advice and personalised service offerings. This expectation is rooted in the satisfaction expressed by clients who value tailored consultancy and convenience.

    Impact of Boxing Day Sales

The timing of Boxing Day sales coinciding with Christmas and New Year celebrations provided a perfect storm for increased bookings. Clients were eager to take advantage of year-end deals, with many choosing to book holidays as part of their seasonal celebrations. With a payday weekend aligning with these sales, the discretionary spending was notably higher.

The agency’s ability to capture this market surge reflects its strategic positioning and understanding of consumer behaviour. By offering attractive packages and expert consultancy, Not Just Travel effectively maximised the appeal of last-minute bookings and spur-of-the-moment travel decisions.

    Changing Booking Demographics

While families usually dominate holiday bookings, this season revealed a noticeable shift. Only 30% of bookings were made by families during the festive period. Instead, there was a significant uptick in couples and solo travellers making the most of holiday deals.

This change in demographics could signal evolving traveller preferences, possibly influenced by the greater flexibility afforded by non-family travel arrangements.

The emphasis on personal experiences and tailored travel options has become more pronounced. Many customers are now seeking bespoke travel experiences, focusing on individual interests rather than group or family-oriented holidays. Not Just Travel has adapted to these demands by enhancing its offerings to cater to diverse traveller needs.

    Looking Ahead to 2024

As Not Just Travel looks to the future, there is optimism about sustaining the momentum gained during this festive period. The agency expects to see continuous growth in bookings by leveraging its strong reputation for excellent customer service and personalised travel solutions.

Their strategic emphasis on listening to customer feedback to refine and expand their services promises to keep them competitive in the dynamic travel market.

With insights gained from this successful period, the agency is well-positioned to anticipate and meet future travel trends. Their proactive approach and commitment to client satisfaction underpin their plans for further expansion and success in 2024.

Reflecting on the recent surge in cruise bookings, Not Just Travel is well-poised for a prosperous year ahead. The agency’s successful strategies during the festive season have not only set a high benchmark but also paved the way for continued growth and success in the travel industry.
