Nick Hughes, a prominent figure in the cruise industry, will assume the role of UK and Ireland sales director at Scenic Group in January 2024.

He transitions from Princess Cruises, where he excelled as UK and Europe sales director, contributing to notable advancements in sales operations.

Nick Hughes’ appointment marks a significant strategic move for Scenic Group. He will report to Nichola Absalom, who has recently ascended to the position of UK managing director for sales and marketing. Based in Manchester, Hughes will be pivotal in propelling Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours and Emerald Cruises’ sales initiatives.

This transition comes amid Scenic Group’s ambitious expansion plans, particularly following the launch of the new ocean ships, Scenic Eclipse II and Emerald Sakkara. Absalom expressed enthusiasm about Hughes joining at this pivotal time, highlighting his extensive industry expertise and vision for growth.

Hughes is well-regarded for his ability to enhance business operations and strengthen partnerships. “It’s an exciting time to join the Scenic Group,” Hughes commented, underscoring the opportunity to work with UK and Ireland teams on expanding market reach.

His predecessor, Eithne Williamson, praised Hughes’ contributions at Princess Cruises, noting his capacity for broadening operational scope. Scenic Group anticipates benefiting from his leadership and strategic direction.

With a focus on dealer-assisted sales, Scenic aims to champion bespoke customer experiences through robust industry partnerships.

This strategy is driven by a commitment to create ‘stories for life’, leveraging Hughes’ insights to influence partner training and support.

Departing from Princess Cruises, Hughes leaves a legacy of innovation and heightened consumer engagement. Known for boosting agent engagement levels to unprecedented heights, his departure signals a search for a successor capable of maintaining this momentum.

Scenic Group’s future under Hughes’ leadership promises a blend of innovation and traditional customer-focused service.

The emphasis will be on maintaining high service standards while integrating new strategies to accommodate expanding demand.
