Bristol Airport has been honoured by Investors in People, the UK’s leading accreditation agency, awarding the airport a Bronze Standard for its commitment to realising the potential of its people.

In its assessment report, Investors in People has commended Bristol Airport’s commitment to communication, reward and recognition, and leadership. The other good practice identified in the assessment includes ‘Above and Beyond’ awards to recognise outstanding staff performance; ‘Treat Cards’ enabling managers to give on-the-spot recognition to staff; a comprehensive approach to internal communications; and the formation of an ‘Engagement Champions’ group.

Commenting on the award, Sarah Tompsett, head of People and Performance at Bristol Airport, said: ‘The Bristol Airport brand is built on exceptional people who take pride in providing great customer service in a relaxed and friendly style. The development of facilities which will enable the Airport to serve 10 million passengers a year in future is already creating exciting opportunities.

‘But the full benefits of infrastructure improvements will only be seen if we also have engaged and committed people across the business. Investors in People assessment is a valuable tool to check we are on the right track, maintaining our position as an employer of choice in the region.’

Paul Devoy, head of Investors in People, said: ‘Achieving the Investors in People Bronze standard is something that any organisation should be truly proud of. It is the sign of a company which is truly committed to good people management practice and we’d like to congratulate Bristol Airport on their achievement.’

Investors in People is an accreditation body for business improvement through people management, which provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business.
