British Airways has announced an expansion of its nonstop flights from London Heathrow to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Texas, introducing a twice-daily service, six days a week, beginning on March 31, 2025.
This enhanced service will be operated by British Airways’ Boeing 787-10 aircraft, featuring a dual-aisle configuration and known as the manufacturer’s most fuel-efficient model to date.
British Airways introduced nonstop flights from Central Texas to Europe with the launch of Austin’s first transatlantic flight in 2014. Since then, the airline has been a key player in serving Austin and Central Texas travellers, offering connections from London Heathrow to its route network of over 190 destinations across more than 65 countries.
‘When British Airways launched this route ten years ago, it put Austin on the map for international travel,’ said Mayor Kirk Watson. ‘Establishing transatlantic service marked a pivotal moment in Austin’s growth as a global destination and connected our city to the world. With this expansion to twice-daily service, we’ll see even more opportunities for our community both in business and tourism. This change strengthens Austin’s global presence and plays a key role in continuing to drive our economy forward.’
The new London Heathrow – Austin service will be operated using a Boeing 787-10 aircraft, offering flights from Monday to Saturday. The existing service on this route, which operates daily from Monday to Sunday, uses a Boeing 777.
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said: ‘After ten years of flights between Austin and London, we’re thrilled to be making it even easier for y’all to hop across the pond. Whether it’s for business or pleasure – we look forward to welcoming even more Austinites on board our flights next Summer!’
