Cobalt Air, the newly introduced Cypriot airline, has announced the launch of a twice weekly service to Larnaca from Birmingham Airport.

Located on the southernmost coast of Cyprus, Larnaca has a sunny climate all year round. Known for its palm-tree seafront, the town is home to the 9th-century Church of Saint Lazarus, the Hala Sultan Tekke, the Kamares Aqueduct and its medieval fort. It is built on the ruins of ancient Citium, which was the birthplace of Stoic philosopher Zeno.

The new service will operate twice a week offering travellers from Birmingham more choices and flexibility. The flights will leave Birmingham on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1705 arriving in Larnaca at 2350 hours. The flights will arrive back into Birmingham at 1605, having departed from Larnaca at 1245 hours. Flights will be operated using Airbus aircraft, with fares starting from £38.00 excluding baggage, one way. Tickets can be booked on www.cobalt.aero.

Commenting on the new service, Tom Screen, Head of Aviation, Birmingham Airport said: ‘We are delighted that we have the opportunity to give passengers even more choice to visit Larnaca from their local airport. Cobalt Air is a new international airline that has pricing similar to low cost but offers a high end in-flight service.’

Philokypros Roussounides, Director of Corporate Affairs from Cobalt Air said: ‘It is great news that we are expanding in the UK with a new service out of Birmingham. Larnaca is a beautiful destination and we are pleased to be able to welcome passengers onboard.’

Cobalt, the first Cypriot airline which took to the skies after the dissolution of Cyprus Airways, commenced service on its first commercial flights on July 7, 2016, with routes from Larnaca to Athens, London Stansted and Manchester. Cobalt currently operates a daily service from London Stansted to Larnaca and twice per week from Manchester to Larnaca.
