    Emirates resumes flights from Newcastle

Emirates has said that it has resumed its Newcastle service, reconnecting people and businesses in the North East with its growing global network.

The Newcastle service follows the restart of operations to London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow over recent months as international travel resumed. The Newcastle service will operate four-times weekly and takes Emirates’ total UK weekly flights to 77.

The new Newcastle service is being served by a Boeing 777-300ER widebody aircraft, offering passengers a choice between First, Business Class and Economy cabins. The airport has announced the resumption of chauffeur services to and from Emirates’ Newcastle hub.

Richard Jewsbury, Divisional Vice President at Emirates UK commented, ‘We’re extremely pleased to see flights returning to and from Newcastle, responding to an increase in bookings across the UK since international travel was made far simpler. In over 10 years of operations, millions of people from the North East and beyond have enjoyed our unrivalled travel experience, and we look forward to welcoming more passengers back on board soon.’

Nick Jones, CEO of Newcastle International Airport, said: ‘Today marks a very important milestone in the recovery of the Airport and of international travel from the region. Emirates has operated flights from Newcastle International Airport since 2007, providing vital connectivity to Dubai and beyond for passengers travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and family. The route has also carried billions of pounds worth of cargo into and out of the region – supporting businesses right across the North.

Dubai is one of the world’s most popular holiday destinations and we are delighted that the return of the route today, with a new evening departure time, will provide another option for those looking for a well-deserved winter sun getaway from Newcastle.’

Emirates currently offers a six times daily A380 London Heathrow service, double daily A380 flights to Manchester, a ten-weekly service to Birmingham, a daily service to Glasgow, and a four-weekly service to Newcastle. By December, Emirates will offer a total of 84 UK weekly flights 84, as daily services return to London Gatwick Airport.

The increase in operations will make it easier for UK customers to access Emirates’ growing global network of 120 destinations – close to 90 percent of Emirates’ pre-pandemic network.
