UK airline group Monarch has announced the addition of flights and holidays to its summer 2016 schedule. The expansion includes two new routes: Manchester, London Gatwick and Birmingham to Lisbon and Birmingham to Madrid.

Monarch also said that an additional Airbus A320 aircraft will be based at Birmingham Airport for summer 2016. This brings the total number of aircraft flying for Monarch to 35, with nine based at Birmingham.

The new flight services from Birmingham to Madrid will commence on June 17, 2016, operating thrice weekly, while the new Birmingham-Lisbon route will start from June 20, 2016, with four services per week. The fares start from £79 for both. The Manchester-Lisbon route will commence on May 5, 2016, while Gatwick-Lisbon will start on May 3, 2016, both operating three flights per week with fares starting from £69.

Following the launch of flights from London Luton earlier this month, a new route from Manchester to Tel Aviv will start on April 19, 2016, operating thrice weekly with fares starting from £110. Other additional routes to existing Monarch destinations (from other bases) are also now on sale.

The additional routes include twice weekly flights from Manchester to Madeira (Funchal) starting May 1, 2016 with fares starting from £79; thrice weekly London Gatwick – Almeria service starting from May 3, 2016 with fares from £69; four flights per week from London Gatwick to Gibraltar starting May 1, 2016 also from £69; and a weekly London Gatwick – Gran Canaria service commencing from May 5, 2016 with fares starting from £89.00.

The extended summer 2016 schedule also includes additional services to several of the airline’s most popular destinations such as Malaga, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife offering customers a chance to escape for a weekend or a longer break to some of Europe’s most popular leisure destinations. The services are all available for booking at www.monarch.co.uk.

Marjan Schoeke, Monarch’s Head of Network Development comments: ‘We continuously refine and develop our network strategy looking closely at where and at what time our customers want to fly. We are delighted to announce that for Summer 16 we will launch two new destinations to Lisbon and Madrid both of which we know will be a popular choice with our customers. In addition and based on customer demand we will also be launching a Manchester to Tel Aviv service. This follows on from a successful launch of flights from Luton at the beginning of December. In total over 2100 flights have been added to our network for summer 2016.’
