According to the AARP’s 2019 Travel Trends report, millennials are making travel more of a priority than other generations. In fact, in 2019, the average millennial (ages 21 to 37) plans on taking roughly five trips throughout the year. Equally as important to this generation is spending responsibly and taking an interest in how to make their money stretch further. As such, budget travel has become an increasingly important element to master in order to create that life/work balance we all strive for.

Our travel experts from Wizz Air have created the perfect 6-week itinerary to save you from the stress of planning such a big trip – which we know can be daunting – and show you that your flights can cost less than £650 whilst you visit some of the cultural capitals of the world.

6-week travel itinerary this summer, for under £650

    42 Days Total —— 6 Flights ——- 21st July/30th August

Starting Destination: London Gatwick                     ?                      End Destination: Abu Dhabi

    All Destinations:

    • Malaga
    • Rome, Fiumicino
    • Nice
    • Vienna
    • Larnaca
    • Abu Dhabi

    Malaga – 7 Days

The first stop of the trip is of course to sunny Spain, Malaga. This coastal city is certain not to disappoint. With a great mix between a bustling city, the quieter old town and the beach, this location has everything one could ask for. Many backpackers frequent Malaga. From an endless supply of hostels (great for travelling on a budget) to plenty of opportunities to meet other backpackers, this is a very backpacker friendly area. Hostels are a great way to meet other like-minded travellers who are also only sticking around for a short number of days before jetting off to their next destination. This way, you can go and enjoy the nightlife and make some life-long friends in the process. For those seeking a little adventure, there are some fun activities such as scuba diving and snorkelling available.

    Rome Fiumicino – 7 Days

The next stop is the beautiful Italy. Touch down in Fiumicino airport and then take a 45 minute ride to get to the centre of Rome. Experience the history of Rome by taking a couple of days to go sightseeing around the city, taking in its terrific architecture and monuments such as the Colosseum. You can choose to explore and see where your feet take you as you wander around, or if you are a traveller who prefers to plan everything, it may be worth paying a little extra for an organised walking tour around the city. And while you’re there, don’t forget to try some Italian cuisine (and discover what pasta really should tastes like!).

    Nice –7 Days

From Rome you’ll then catch a flight across to the South of France to the beautiful city of Nice. This city is worth visiting whatever the season, but as this trip is during the summer months, you’ll be able to enjoy that extra bit of heat you were hoping for. This city has it all – museums, green parks and beaches, with an impressive 7 km long seaside promenade as well as the fact that it is home to a lot of rich and famous people. There are a variety of nice hostels to choose from in this area, helping you stay on top of your budget and allowing you to meet other students and backpackers.

    Vienna – 7 Days

Our next destination in the Capital of Austria – Vienna. This interesting city has a lot to offer a first-time visitor. From fascinating palaces, spectacular Baroque architecture, and home to the largest Ferris wheel in Europe. However, if you’re looking to escape the noise of the city, you can opt for visiting one of the countless wine taverns, and experience a wine tasting day, known for their relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, we recommend you don’t miss out on experiencing the beauty of a village just outside of Vienna named Hallstatt. To make life easy, you can plan a full-day small-group tour from Vienna. Travel by private transportation and discover more points of interest in less time. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Hallstatt followed by free time to explore independently, before your comfortable return journey.

    Larnaca – 7 Days

It’s time to head over to experience some island life in Larnaca, Cyprus. This country is home to an array of natural beauty and is well-known for its hot climate in the summer. During your stay in the sea-side city of Larnaca, you can enjoy exquisite Cypriot cuisine, take a dip in the crystal-clear waters, sightsee, or try some of the hiking trails available for those who are feeling a little more adventurous. This may in fact be the perfect point in your travels to indulge in a little luxury, and try a private boat trip and spend some time out at sea to get away from the bustle of city life.

    Abu Dhabi – 7 Days

To ensure an epic finale to your travels we’ve saved the best destination till last – The city of Abu Dhabi. Known for its vibrant and lively atmosphere, you’ll never be without something to do. Beyond the city, majestic desert landscapes and lush green oases are open for exploring. Prepare to be mind – blown by the contrast of a spectacular city with towering skyscrapers all around, close by to a desert ready and waiting for you to embark on an awesome safari where you can stop off and try some sand boarding! This location truly has every type of activity for any holidaymaker.
