Virgin Atlantic expands services from Gatwick to Cuba and US

Virgin Atlantic is planning to expand its services from Gatwick with the addition of a third weekly service to Cuba in winter 2016 and an increase of flight frequency to Orlando and Las Vegas in The USA according to a recent online report.

Offering more opportunities for customers, the British airline will operate an additional service from Gatwick to Havana on Saturdays, starting November 2016 until March 2017.

In addition, two new services have been added from Gatwick to Las Vegas for September and October, which will operate on Monday and Wednesday. Meanwhile, three new flights will be operated – on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – from Gatwick to Orlando starting late July and throughout August.

Executive vice president, commercial, Erik Varwijk, said: ‘We’re delighted to be offering our customers more choice when flying to some of their favourite destinations.

‘Florida and Las Vegas have been enduringly popular with our customers, and Havana is also consistently seeing incredibly high demand, so it makes perfect sense to increase services during the most popular months.’

The British airline is also offering seasonal services to both American cities – Las Vegas and Orlando – from other UK airports.

A new weekly service will be introduced from Manchester to Las Vegas from the beginning of March 2017, while current seasonal service to Las Vegas will continue to the end of November 2016, operating two services per week. An extra service will be added in April. A weekly service from Glasgow to Orlando will also be offered until the end of November and starting from March 2017.

Virgin’s US services form part of the airline’s Joint Venture with Delta Air Lines, with the US carrier offering the service for sale under the code-share agreement. As part of the JV, Delta Air Lines will be introducing services from London Heathrow to Salt Lake City, as well as Edinburgh to New York JFK, in winter 2016, the report said.
