HotelTravel.com’s Formula 1 event guide goes “down under” for the Melbourne Grand Prix for the first race of what is poised to be a very competitive 2011 season.

After organisers cancelled the Bahrain Grand Prix, Melbourne moved up the calendar to what many Formula 1 followers consider its rightful place where the annual F1 race campaign should kick off. The Melbourne Grand Prix used to hold that honor dating back to 1996.

HotelTravel.com Chief Information Officer, Olivier Dombey, said that the 2011 Formula 1 season certainly has gotten off to an unusual start.

“It is unique to have a high profile sport like Formula 1 cancel or reschedule an event. However, we remain very excited about the HotelTravel.com 2011 Formula 1 guide for this season.

“HotelTravel.com will be updating the pages on a real time basis to reflect the ever changing world of F1 as the campaign progresses. The Melbourne Grand Prix remains one of F1’s most popular races, because Melbourne offers so many fantastic pre- and post-travel options for spectators attending the race,” Mr. Dombey, said.

For more information on this fantastic city, also have a read through HotelTravel.com’s Melbourne: A Showcase of Cosmopolitan Life Down Under travel article. It covers all the latest trendsetting happenings around one of the most dynamic cities in Australia.

Regarding race day tips, check out HotelTravel.com’s Melbourne Grand Prix event guide. It is packed with unique content found only on HotelTravel.com, including dozens of original feature articles by the company’s expert team of travel writers.

Fans looking to book accommodation in advance should also have a look at promotional deals in cities hosting future Formula 1 races available exclusively on HotelTravel.com. Special deals for hotels in Kuala Lumpur start from only US$28 per night; Shanghai hotels can be had from just US$21 per night; hotels in Istanbul start from an amazing low rate of only EUR22 per night.

Mr.Dombey added: “While the HotelTravel.com Formula 1 event guide focuses on racing, we believe our core customer base is also tapping into our exclusive F 1 hotel promotions in popular destinations. This are all unique cities for leisure holidays from anywhere in the world. Arriving there in time for a Grand Prix weekend just adds to the excitement.”
