Norwegian introduces two new Manchester routes

Low-cost airline, Norwegian, has expanded its services at Manchester Airport with the addition of two new routes to Malaga and Alicante.

The airline is now operating four weekly flights from Manchester to Malaga on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, followed by two weekly flights – on Fridays and Sundays – to Alicante.

With the new routes, passengers in Manchester and the North West will have access to nearly 130,000 more seats in time for the summer with fares to both destinations starting from GBP34.90. The new routes will be serviced by Norwegian’s brand new 186 seat aircraft that offers passengers free Wi-Fi during flight.

Thomas Ramdahl, chief commercial officer at Norwegian, said: ‘Norwegian’s expansion plans at Manchester are only at the beginning. 380,000 passengers have already enjoyed our services including free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating and brand new aircraft all at affordable fares to and from Manchester Airport. With our new routes to Malaga and Alicante, customers now have even more choice to lighten the load on their wallets by flying to this summer’s hotspots with Norwegian.’

Norwegian began serving Manchester in 2011 and now flies to six business and leisure destinations – Norwegian’s existing services from Manchester to Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen were joined by new low-fare flights to Barcelona in April, followed by the introduction of Malaga and Alicante this week.

Norwegian, which launched its first UK flights in 2003, now operates from London Gatwick, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester Airports to more than 40 destinations worldwide. Norwegian also claims to be the only airline offering UK passengers direct low-cost flights to the U.S. Direct flights from London Gatwick to eight U.S. destinations, including New York, Boston, Oakland-San Francisco and Las Vegas are available from GBP149.

Norwegian’s low-cost long-haul flight services deploy the latest Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Norwegian has been voted ‘Europe’s best low-cost carrier’ by passengers for three consecutive years at SkyTrax World Airline Awards, and was also the first airline to be awarded the ‘World’s best low-cost long-haul airline’ in 2015 by SkyTrax.
