Holiday company, Thomson, has opened its second holiday design store on Lord Street, Liverpool.

Spread over 1,032 square feet, the 25-year old store on Lord Street has been completely revamped and modernised and claims to combine the latest technology with great service to enhance the experience of choosing and booking a holiday. The latest retail innovations include an 84-inch touch screen interactive map and interactive tables designed to inspire customers while they research their holiday options.

Lord mayor, Gary Millar, officially opened the store in the presence of Rachael McCormick and Deborah Gales, who are both holiday advisors that have worked at the store since it first opened in 1988.

The fresh look and feel of the store is further enhanced with high definition screens and projections around the perimeter, where customers can view top ten lists, read reviews, gather live weather information and view videos of destinations.

Social media feeds will be streamed onto the screens, where customers are offered a condensed ‘virtual’ experience of their holiday before they book it.

Kathryn Ward, director of retail for TUI UK & Ireland said: ‘The opening of our second holiday design store today is very exciting for the business and demonstrates our commitment to developing the next generation of our retail network. Our first store at Bluewater Shopping Centre has proved to be a huge success and it’s great to be able to offer this unique service to our customers in the Liverpool area.

‘We’re combining the knowledge and expertise of our people with a range of technology that will really bring choosing and booking a holiday to life and we’re looking forward to welcoming our customers to the store.’

The store is zoned, and customers can choose to browse on their own devices or with staff in the pool area, self-serve on the customer computer at the Advice Bar where staff will be available to answer queries, or go for a more personalised experience in the large booths where relevant holiday images and video content will be projected on the wall.
