Hampton by Hilton, a budget hotel brand from the Hilton Worldwide hotel group, is aiming to double its hotel portfolio in the UK by 2015.
The company intends to have 23 properties operational within two years, double its present number. Two new hotels are currently in the process of being opened, Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport, North Terminal, and Hampton by Hilton Birmingham City North. The two are being redeveloped at a cost of £22.5 million.
The Gatwick property is scheduled to open early next year with a connection to the airport’s North Terminal via the hotel’s own covered walkway. It will be a 192-room hotel with two meeting rooms and on-site parking, and is a conversion of the seven-storey Longbridge House, with work being carried out under a franchise agreement with Shiva Hotels Limited.
The Birmingham property is a 109-room, purpose built hotel in the city’s famous Jewellery Quarter, which is being developed under a management agreement with Birmingham Regeneration LLP. It is scheduled to open this summer, and will complement the company’s present property in the city, the Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Broad Street.
Hilton Worldwide’s senior vice president, development, Europe and Africa, Patrick Fitzgibbon, said, ‘Hampton by Hilton’s continued UK growth is giving increasingly savvy consumers greater access to exceptional hotel experiences at highly competitive rates and in more locations. With these latest hotels in Gatwick and Birmingham now under development, the strong momentum behind Hampton by Hilton means we are on track to double the current UK portfolio by 2015.’
