Hilton Dunkeld House Partners with Perthshire Big Tree Country Initiative

Hilton Dunkeld House, a luxury hotel located in Perthshire, Scotland, is partnering with the National Tree Collections of Scotland and the Perthshire Big Tree Country Initiative, in a conservation scheme.

The hotel and its guests will be participating in the initiative to support The Big Tree Country scheme, and the donations collected during the drive will be used to manage the trees and woodlands in the estate surrounding the hotel.

Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust will manage the Big Tree Country scheme for the hotel. The trust will seek voluntary contributions from public agencies, charitable trusts and commercial sponsors for its projects. The scheme has currently raised around GBP120,000 for Big Tree Country projects.

The hotel general manager, Mike Metcalfe, said, ‘The hotel has a long history of investing in the preservation of our beautiful landscape and we are delighted to be involved in this scheme. Perthshire has some of the most remarkable trees and country gardens in Europe and is stunning at any time of year. Hilton Dunkeld values its connections with supporting Big Tree Country and is pleased to be associated with the various projects on conservation and protecting the wonderful Perthshire landscape.

This scheme also supports the existing good work already implemented by Big Tree Country. It not only encourages guests of the hotel to engage in local environmental enhancements, but it also encourages our staff to be pro-active in learning more about Big Tree Country.’

Big Tree Country’s website says that thanks to the efforts of local organisations, communities and individuals, Perthshire now boasts over 300 miles, or 480 kilometres of way-marked paths.
