A new study from Travelbag reveals which trending honeymoon destinations are in store for 2025

    • Bali is named the top long-haul honeymoon destination, with 46% of activities being classed as ‘couple activities’
    • Santorini is the best honeymoon destination in Europe, with 12% of hotels being ‘adult-only’
    • Sri Lanka has seen a 124% year-over-year (YoY) increase in bookings since 2023

A honeymoon is a beautiful time to celebrate your new marriage with just you and your partner. And with Google searches for ‘romantic getaway’ increasing by 83% worldwide in the last year, couples are eager to find that perfect, intimate honeymoon destination.

To discover which is the best honeymoon spot for romance and quality time with your new spouse, long-haul travel specialists at Travelbag analysed the number of romantic restaurants, adult-only hotels, and the number of couples activities at various honeymoon destinations. They also investigated the average costs of a fortnight’s stay and the average UK Google search volume.

Bali is named the top long-haul honeymoon destination, with 46% of activities being classed as ‘couple activities’

Bali tops the best honeymoon destination list, offering affordable luxury amongst breathtaking surroundings. The average cost of a two-week stay as a couple is £1,966, leaving plenty of cash to try any of the 332 couples’ activities in this dreamy paradise. And with over a thousand romantic restaurants (1,267), love will certainly be in the air.

The Caribbean Island of St. Lucia comes second, with white-sand beaches and intimate nature trails to set the mood. While the most expensive fortnightly stay on the list, nearly one-tenth of the island’s hotels are adult-only (8.4%). If you are on your honeymoon in May, you can even dance under the stars at the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival.

Rounding off the top three is Seychelles, offering over 60 beaches to sunbathe on and explore. For honeymooners interested in the culture of the islands, an October visit to Mahe will intersect with the Festival Kreol, with a mix of music, dancing, and processions. With an annual Google search volume of over 10,000 in the UK, Brits are tempted by this naturally beautiful country.

Sri Lanka (124%), Puerto Rico (100%) and Banff (74%) lead honeymoon demand in 2025

Travelbag’s latest booking trends reveal that Sri Lanka, Puerto Rico, and Banff have seen substantial year-over-year increases in popularity. Sri Lanka bookings skyrocketed by an impressive 124%, suggesting it’s becoming a must-visit destination for long-haul honeymoons. Similarly, destinations like Zanzibar (48%), Costa Rica (22%), and Antigua (13%) are growing in appeal for couples seeking unique romantic getaways.

Santorini is the best honeymoon destination in Europe, with 12% of hotels being ‘adult-only’

RankHoneymoon destinationThe average cost of a 14-night stay (for a couple)% of restaurants that are romantic% of hotels that are adult-only % of activities that are good for couplesAverage UK annual search volume

    4Mallorca£4,03920%6.5%21%1,680
    5Paris£6,18916%0.9%56%1,080

Over half (55%) of Santorini’s activities are classed as good for couples, and almost half (48%) of the restaurants provide the romantic atmosphere needed for the perfect honeymoon. In the land where there is more wine than water thanks to the lack of rain, a vineyard tour can be the perfect newlywed activity to celebrate.

Another Greek island makes the top three thanks to the beauty and romance of Mykonos. Whether you watch the sunset over the Aegean Sea from one of the 170 romantic restaurants or one of the many sunset yacht cruises, you and your partner can enjoy the charm of this intimate island.

The 48-kilometre stretch of the Amalfi coast makes the top three, with picturesque spots to capture your honeymoon. A couple’s selfie from Furore Beach or an Instagram story of you sharing a meal at one of Amalfi’s 363 romantic restaurants can help memorialise your getaway.

South East Asia expert names the must-see sites of Bali during your honeymoon, as well as when to go

“Bali offers the perfect blend of romantic luxury and relaxation,” says Travelbags’ South East Asia expert Helen Wheat.

“For a serene and romantic honeymoon with a more tranquil atmosphere, consider the months of January to March, which offer a lush, tropical charm. If you’re dreaming of abundant sunshine, the peak dry season from July to August is perfect for sun-soaked adventures. Make your way to Nusa Dua and Sanur for true rest and relaxation in a tranquil setting. For those of you who prefer a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars, head to the more lively resort of Seminyak which boasts some of the best sun-sets in Bali. And if you’re wanting something completely different, why not check out the beachside surf town of Canggu which is surrounded by lush, green paddy fields and is popular with surfers from around the world.”
