Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 Launches Shuttle Bus Service

Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 hotel in London, UK, a brand from Hilton Hotels and Resorts, has introduced a complimentary shuttle bus service for its business guests.

The hotel, which is located within a mile of Terminal 5 at London Heathrow Airport, is offering the shuttle bus service for business and leisure travellers staying overnight at the hotel. The shuttle bus service, which seats eight passengers in comfort, is operating between the hotel and local business parks at Bedfont Lakes and Stockley Park. The service is scheduled for two morning and two evening departures, and complements the meeting facilities offered by the hotel.

Alexandra Mosquito, the hotel’s manager, said, ‘This launch illustrates the exceptional service that our hotel is renowned for, alongside our commitment to constantly developing meaningful added value services for our guests. The shuttle bus has already proved popular and we hope to develop this to include more pick up points in the future.’

In addition to the new shuttle service, the hotel is also offering complimentary Wi-Fi, an onsite business centre with seven meeting rooms, and a conference and banqueting wing. The hotel dining venues include the Musetti coffee bar, The Gallery restaurant and bar, and a pan-Asian signature restaurant, named Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen.

The hotel amenities also include a spa that covers two floors and offers guests a number of luxurious treatments that are available in its nine treatment rooms, a pool, a relaxation area and a 24-hour fitness centre.

Opened in August 2011, the hotel was also honoured at the Best Employers in Hospitality Awards 2012, for England and Wales.

New Hilton Hotel to Open in Hampshire

Hilton Worldwide, a US-based hotel company, has announced a new Hilton at the Ageas Bowl cricket ground, Southampton, in England.

The hotel will be a franchise of the brand, and will be developed by RB Hotels Limited. It is expected to open in 2014, close to Hampshire County Cricket Club, with 171 rooms and four suites.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, the senior vice president development for Europe and Africa, for Hilton Worldwide, said, ‘We are delighted to be opening our second property in Southampton, complementing the existing Hilton Southampton with a new landmark hotel at the Ageas Bowl. English cricket has experienced a period of great success; and we are excited to become a part of that in a year where Hilton Worldwide has contributed to developing a lasting legacy for sports tourism in the UK.

As well as this year’s signature openings, we have a successful recent record in developing hotels within sports stadia. This includes a DoubleTree by Hilton which opened in 2009 at Stadium MK, home of Milton Keynes Dons Football Club.’

The Ageas Bowl site is within close distance of Southampton Parkway train station. The hotel will be offering an ideal location for meetings and conferences, with its 1,000sqm of events space, including a ball room of 600sqm.

Hilton Worldwide Announces Two New Hotels in UK

Hilton Worldwide, a US-based hotel conglomerate, has announced the opening of two new hotels at St George’s Park in Burton on Trent, UK.

The new dual branded property, Hilton at St George’s Park and Hampton by Hilton St George’s Park, is to open at St. George’s Park, which houses training and development facilities for the England Football Association.

Simon Vincent, the area president at Hilton Worldwide, said, ‘This summer has been a success for British sport, the tourism industry and Hilton Worldwide. Having operated at near full occupancy in London over the past fortnight, we are ahead of last year for the month of August and confident of a long lasting legacy, provided the right support mechanisms are put in place.

This week we have opened one of the most exciting hotel projects in living memory, one which combines the inspirational visions of both sports and tourism, with a special focus on youth development. Hilton at St George’s Park, Burton upon Trent, is offering around 91 guest rooms, 41 executive rooms and 14 suites, while Hampton by Hilton at St. George’s Park, Burton upon Trent, is offering 86 guest rooms, a fitness room, a snack area, complimentary hot breakfast and relaxation areas.

The company has entered into UK Government’s Youth Contract and Social Mobility Compact, to support young people entering the hospitality industry, and it is ready to introduce a new apprenticeship scheme to train those young people for jobs in the industry.


DoubleTree by Hilton to Open in Liverpool

Doubletree by Hilton Hotels, a brand from the US-based hospitality company, Hilton Worldwide, will be opening a new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Liverpool, UK.

The brand is opening the new 87-room hotel, adding to its portfolio of properties in Leeds, Manchester and London.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, the senior vice president of development for Europe and Africa, for Hilton Worldwide, said, ‘The Liverpool market remains one of the most active development centres in the UK for Hilton Worldwide, already home to our upscale Hilton and economy Hampton by Hilton brands. With nearly 60 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels either open or under development, Europe remains a target development market for the brand.’

The new hotel will open in the summer of 2013, located in what was previously the city’s Municipal Annexe, an English Heritage grade 2 listed building that was constructed in 1865. It will be offering amenities that include a restaurant, a residents’ lounge, a spa and swimming pool, and conference facilities. Sanguine Hospitality will operate the hotel, under a franchise agreement with the brand.

Hilton Properties in UK Acquire Carbon Saver Gold Standard for Sustainability

Hilton Worldwide hotels in the UK have been awarded the Carbon Saver Gold Standard in recognition of their carbon management practices.

All of the company’s UK properties have been on a mission for the last three years to lower their carbon emissions. The company uses a proprietary sustainability measurement system, LightStay, which examines around 200 operational practices, and suggests sustainable measures for adoption. The system has helped to control carbon emissions in several of the hotels’ operational areas, including housekeeping, the use of paper, food wastage, chemical storage, the quality of air, and transportation.

Darren Cook, the senior director of engineering operations for Hilton Worldwide, Europe, said, ‘Achieving the Carbon Saver Gold Standard accreditation across all our UK properties is fantastic news and demonstrates the real commitment from Hilton Worldwide to continually reduce our impact on the environment. We are very proud of the industry-leading work we are doing in this area and it’s gratifying to see the hard work of our team members recognised in this way.’

The Carbon Saver Standard has verified the use of procedures by the Hilton Group’s hotels, to control and lower their carbon emissions.

Glenn Wilkinson, managing director at Carbon Saver Ltd, the company that helped the hotel properties to manage their carbon emissions, said, ‘This is a great achievement for Hilton Worldwide. The level of staff participation is particularly impressive and a clear sustainability message is provided across all hotels. Hilton Aberdeen Treetops Announces Summer Renovation Project

Hilton Aberdeen Treetops, a Hilton Hotels and Resorts brand property in Aberdeen, Scotland, has announced a refurbishment programme, although the hotel remains operational.

The hotel is undergoing a GBP425,000 refurbishment programme, to be completed by autumn 2012, which includes the remodelling of 30 bedrooms, including eight deluxe plus business bedrooms, and the lounge area. The project will supplement a GBP75,000 upgrade of kitchen and catering equipment at the hotel.

Stewart Lorimer, the area general manager for Hilton Hotels and Resorts in North of Scotland, said, ‘This is just the latest in an ongoing programme of upgrades we have undergone at the hotel to ensure we remain a key player in attracting both business and leisure visitors to the city. Aberdeen’s hospitality sector continues to play a vital role in the economy of the city and we’re delighted to continually improve our proposition for busy business and leisure guests.’

Hilton Aberdeen Treetops is located close to the Aberdeen city centre and Aberdeen Airport. The 120-room hotel has on offer a LivingWell Health Club with indoor heated pool, a sauna, two outdoor tennis courts, a gym and beauty spa. The hotel is also offering a fine dining venue at Springfield’s Restaurant, and a Springfield’s Bar area.

Hilton Barcelona Reopens After Transformation

Hilton Barcelona, a Hilton Hotels brand property in Barcelona, Spain, has reopened after completing a total refurbishment aimed at attracting new age travellers.

The hotel, which had initially opened during the Barcelona Olympic Games, has re-opened on completion of a makeover of its 289 guestrooms, and 13 suites, as well as its Mosaic restaurant, The Vibe Bar and an impressive outdoor terrace. The hotel has benefited from the brand’s new innovative lobby design for the first time in Europe.

British designers, Bevis Design Associates, has planned the rooms, suites and Executive Lounge decor, while Matteo Thun is the architect for the hotel’s public areas, including the lobby, which has been designed with flexible space which may be changed according to various hospitality requirements.

Matteo Thun said, ‘We’ve turned a twenty year old building into a stylish and contemporary urban space. Hilton Barcelona is not just a hotel, but a dynamic open place that embodies the different needs of a constantly changing society.’

The dining venues include two restaurants, the Mosaic Restaurant for fine dining, and Atrium Bar and Terrace for evening cocktails.

All guestrooms are provided with wireless high speed Internet access, and separate workspaces. For guests staying in Executive class rooms, the Executive Lounge will provide complimentary breakfast and refreshments.

The Hilton Barcelona hotel has 17 meeting rooms for events and conferences, a Business Centre and wireless Internet access in all public areas.

Introductory room rates commence at €149, per room, per night.

London Hilton on Park Lane Celebrates London Summer

London Hilton on Park Lane, a Hilton brand hotel in London, UK, is celebrating the summer of 2012 with special offers.

DoubleTree by Hilton Announces New Hotel in Malaysia

Doubletree by Hilton Hotels, a brand from the US-based hospitality company, Hilton Worldwide, will be opening a new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The 365-room DoubleTree by Hilton, Johor Bahru opens in 2014, and will be the third DoubleTree by Hilton property in Malaysia. The hotel is located within Johor Bahru’s Central Business District.
