TUI to introduce more Tenerife winter sun flights from Norwich

Norwich Airport is expanding its winter sun options for travellers heading to Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

TUI, which is already a significant operator from Norwich, is increasing its flight frequency to Tenerife from once a week to twice a week starting from Thursday, October 5, and continuing through April next year.

TUI is one of Norwich Airport’s biggest operators by destination with nine routes in total. This latest move provides more flexibility for travellers looking to escape to the Canary Islands during the colder months.

The Canary Islands is an archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the northwestern coast of Africa. The Islands are known for their stunning natural beauty, diverse landscapes, and pleasant year-round climate, which makes them a popular destination for tourists, especially during the winter months when people from colder regions of Europe seek warmer weather.

Norwich Airport managing director Richard Pace said: ‘The Canaries are hugely popular for winter getaways and the doubling of flights to Tenerife means there is even more choice for passengers from Norwich Airport.’

‘And for those looking for worldwide connections there are more than 270 available from Amsterdam, with daily flights from Norwich up to four times a day with KLM.’

Bournemouth Airport announces expanded services with TUI for summer 2024

Bournemouth Airport has announced the introduction of new flights and increased frequency for Summer 2024 with UK-based travel brand TUI, with the addition of a new route to Tunisia.

TUI will offer 60,000 extra seats, representing a 33 percent increase in capacity at Bournemouth Airport for next year. In addition, TUI will base a second aircraft at the airport and provide a larger frequency of flights. TUI is a major operator at Bournemouth Airport with 14 scheduled services this year.

TUI will introduce a new route to Enfidha in Tunisia, while flights to Ibiza, Lanzarote, Menorca, Heraklion, Paphos, and Tenerife will all be increased to operate twice a week. TUI is also offering a twice weekly service to Corfu, Heraklion, and Rhodes, as well as flights to Kefalonia and Zakynthos. There will also be two flights a week to Dalaman and Antalya in Turkey, and four weekly flights to Mallorca, with two linking to Marella Cruises.

Commenting on TUI’s expansion, Bournemouth Airport’s managing director Steve Gill said: ‘We are delighted to announce new flights and increased frequency with TUI for Summer 2024. With an additional aircraft based at Bournemouth Airport and a new route to Enfidha in Tunisia, we are providing even more choice and flexibility for our passengers, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to our airport. Working closely with TUI, this additional capacity is fantastic news for our airport and the local economy.’

Andrew Flintham, TUI managing director, said: ‘Our customers want more flexibility and to be able to choose a departure airport that is close to home – and that is exactly what the new TUI 2024 summer programme has been designed to do. We want every one of our customers to be able to create a holiday as unique as they are – departure airport, destination and duration are all key components which come together to make the perfect TUI holiday.

‘The 2024 programme will see extra flights departing from across the UK. Bournemouth Airport will see a significant increase in flight seats offering more holidays to those living in the region.’

Late last year, Ryanair also announced it would be basing a second aircraft at the airport in 2023, enabling 120 flights per week, a 30 percent increase on last year. In March, the airline started new flights to Venice, Carcassonne, and Edinburgh, building on its existing schedule. Bournemouth Airport offers 35 destinations in sixteen countries in 2023/24.

TUI adds over 1,500 hotels across popular holiday destinations for 2024

TUI, a travel and leisure company, has announced the addition of 1,500 hotels on sale across 22 destinations for UK guests for summer 2024.

According to a release by Norwich Airport, customers in East Anglia will get more choice in popular destinations such as Ibiza, Menorca and Turkey from Norwich. With a total of 14 flights a week, TUI flying offers nine routes from the region, with the largest number of flights to Palma Majorca, three times each week.

The 1,500 hotels now on sale feature in popular spots like Greece, The Canaries and The Balearics, and are operated from more than 20 regional airports across the UK.

The move comes after research revealed that holidaymakers flying from Norwich are more likely to book a summer holiday to Tenerife, Majorca and Turkey on an all-inclusive basis, compared with those flying from Southampton, who are more likely to travel to Majorca, Jersey and Ibiza, on an all-inclusive basis for their summer holiday.

Andrew Flintham, Managing Director at TUI UK & Ireland, commented: ‘We are proud of our unrivalled regional flying programme that operates from more UK airports than any other international airline, offering more flexibility and choice to our customers from 20 regional airports. Norwich has been a long-standing partner of ours and it’s great to see the evolution of this important partnership, which has sent more than 400K passengers on holiday in the past 10 years.

‘The additional hotels on sale for next summer is testament to positive bookings and we know Brits want to travel more than ever. We are continually focussed on expanding our regional flying programme so that we can continue to make great holidays accessible for as many people as possible.

‘At TUI we’re proud to be an award winning travel company – recently winning Best Travel Company for summer sun holidays, Best Travel Company for winter sun holidays, Best Travel Company for Lakes and Mountains holidays and Best Travel Company for Ski/ Winter sports holidays at the British Travel Awards. We offer an outstanding range of holidays and owned hotels concepts, like TUI Blue.’

Richard Pace, Managing Director at Norwich Airport, said: ‘TUI’s addition of 1,500 hotels on its routes from next summer is great news and gives passengers even more choice from Norwich Airport. We’re delighted that bookings have started so strongly this year and we have been recruiting extra staff for the busy season ahead.’

Tui announces Dalaman flights from Teeside Airport for summer 2024

From Summer 2024, Teesside Airport passengers will be able to take a trip to Turkey’s Turquoise Coast with a new flight to Dalaman, operated by travel firm and airline, Tui.

This marks the second destination in Turkey for Teesside Airport, after TUI announced flights to Antalya last year. The news of the new weekly route to Dalaman, which will fly to and from Teesside every Tuesday from May 28 until September 17, comes just days after TUI revealed that it would be doubling the number of flights from Teesside to Majorca next summer. This move will mean more flexibility on stays. The two flights a week to Majorca are also on sale now for 2024.

TUI flights to Antalya are also on sale for next summer, operating every Thursday from May 25 to September 21.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said, ‘Our summer flights saw some of the highest passenger numbers seen for decades – thanks to local people backing our airport, airlines are backing us by giving them more of the flights people want. Just a few days ago, TUI doubled the number of Palma flights for next summer, and now they’ve added another popular holiday spot to Dalaman, Turkey from Summer 2024. This is yet another massive vote of confidence in our fantastic airport and this is helping us turn it around to become the success we all know it can be. We’re greedy. We still want Tenerife, we still want Malaga, but it’s a journey. If we keep getting support from the people of Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool, we will get them and we will get there.’
