Oceania Cruises has reached an exciting milestone with the recent float-out of the Allura. This event marks the completion of the hull and sets the stage for outfitting the ship’s interiors.

Set to join the fleet in July 2025, Allura is anticipated to uphold the brand’s reputation for luxury, offering a suite of enhancements aimed at elevating guest experiences.

    Significant Milestone for Oceania Cruises

The recent float-out of the Allura marks a significant milestone in Oceania Cruises’ operations. Conducted at the Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, this ceremony, although understated due to the recent passing of Fincantieri’s chairman, showcases the progress made on this state-of-the-art vessel.

The float-out is a noteworthy accomplishment as it transitions the ship from the dry dock into the water, signalling the completion of the hull. Oceania Cruises President, Frank A. Del Rio, emphasised the importance of this phase, stating that it brings them closer to welcoming Allura into their fleet.

    Exciting Enhancements and Features

Once completed, Allura will not only enhance the brand’s offerings but will also reinforce its position as an ultra-premium cruise operator. The ship promises a range of exciting enhancements designed to elevate the guest experience.

Scheduled to commence service in mid-2025, Allura will feature luxurious interiors and innovative designs, promising to deliver a unique sailing experience. It will provide a harmonious blend of elegance and modern comfort, setting a new standard for luxury cruising.

Del Rio highlighted that these enhancements further cement Oceania Cruises’ reputation for excellence, setting them apart in the competitive cruise market.

    The Allura Class Expansion

Allura is the second vessel in the Allura Class, following the successful launch of its sister ship, Vista. This class of ships is known for blending sophisticated design with unparalleled service.

Designed to host up to 1,200 guests, Allura is expected to offer an intimate yet opulent atmosphere, providing personalised services that cater to the preferences of discerning travellers.

The ship’s itineraries include diverse destinations, aiming to offer guests a wide range of cultural and historical experiences across the Mediterranean, North America, and the Caribbean.

    A Tribute to Claudio Graziano

The project’s progress coincides with a period of reflection following the loss of Fincantieri chairman Claudio Graziano. His contributions to the maritime industry have been profound and impactful, guiding numerous innovations.

In acknowledgment of his legacy, Del Rio expressed his condolences to the Fincantieri team, noting how Graziano’s leadership had been instrumental in the development of the Allura and other fleet projects.

    Blessing and Traditions

The float-out ceremony included traditional practices, with the ship being blessed by Father Stefano, the resident chaplain of the shipyard. This ritual is a maritime tradition meant to bestow good fortune upon the vessel and her future voyages.

Caterina Romeo, a designer at Fincantieri, served as the Madrina for the ship, holding the honour of christening Allura. Her role underscores the collaborative spirit and dedication of the team involved in the ship’s creation.

These customs, deeply rooted in maritime history, add a layer of solemnity and tradition to the shipbuilding process.

    Future Prospects and Itineraries

Allura is set to debut with a voyage from Trieste, marking the beginning of its Mediterranean summer season. This deployment reaffirms Oceania Cruises’ commitment to offering exceptional travel experiences in sought-after locales.

Following its Mediterranean sailings, Allura plans to navigate North American waters, concluding with winter cruises in the Caribbean. Miami will serve as its primary homeport during this period.

With such diverse itineraries, Allura promises to deliver a variety of enriching experiences, appealing to a broad spectrum of passengers.

    Conclusion

The float-out of Allura represents a pivotal moment for Oceania Cruises as they advance towards the ship’s grand debut. With its luxurious offerings and thoughtful design, Allura is poised to elevate the cruising experience for passengers embarking on its future voyages.

The float-out of Allura heralds a new chapter for Oceania Cruises. As the vessel prepares for entry into service, it brings promise of luxury and innovation to the cruise industry.
