Ramble Worldwide has announced the appointment of Wayne Perks as its new managing director.

With his extensive industry experience, Perks aims to bolster partnerships with travel agents and expand the company’s market presence.

    Wayne Perks: An Experienced Leader

Ramble Worldwide has appointed Wayne Perks as the new managing director, effective from September 9. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen relations with travel agents and drive significant sales growth. Perks brings over 25 years of experience in various roles with brands such as British Airways and Thomas Cook.

Having worked as the chief operating officer at EFR Travel, Perks played a crucial role in leading the company’s post-pandemic recovery. This experience positions him uniquely to guide Ramble Worldwide through its next phase of expansion, focusing on enhancing distribution strategies and re-engaging with travel agents.

    A Vision for Sustainable Growth

Perks has set clear priorities for his role at Ramble Worldwide. A core focus is expanding the market for hiking holidays to Generation X and beyond, tapping into an increasing interest in ‘slow’ and responsible travel. This strategy aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

“What really attracted me to Ramble Worldwide is its for-purpose ethos,” Perks stated. He emphasised the importance of using business profits to unlock the mental and physical benefits of travel while preserving the landscapes and communities they visit.

    Transitioning Leadership

Kevin O’Regan, the outgoing managing director, leaves the company after a fulfilling six-year tenure. His decision stems from a desire to explore and travel after 35 years in the industry.

O’Regan expressed gratitude towards the staff, board, and volunteer leaders, acknowledging their role in shaping a rewarding experience.

The transition is expected to be seamless, as O’Regan has paved the way for future growth, particularly through successful pandemic navigation and a recent brand refresh.

    Kevin O’Regan’s Legacy

Over his tenure, O’Regan successfully guided Ramble Worldwide through the pandemic, bringing it back to profitability. His efforts in rebranding have set a robust foundation for continued growth.

“I’ve had an amazing journey over the past six years at Ramble Worldwide,” O’Regan remarked, highlighting the joy of working alongside dedicated individuals.

    Expanding Market Horizons

Ramble Worldwide is poised to broaden its appeal among younger travellers, particularly those seeking immersive experiences connecting them to local cultures and environments. By promoting hiking holidays as a unique way to explore, the company is set to attract a diverse customer base.

There is a budding opportunity for closer collaborations with travel agents, as the company aims to educate and integrate agents into this niche market.

    Ramble Worldwide’s Strategic Vision

The incoming managing director is enthusiastic about broadening strategic partnerships with travel agents. This approach is intended to tap into the expanding hiking market, leveraging it for mutual growth.

Perks is keen to invite trade partners to delve deeper into this vibrant market, offering unique holidays that combine adventure with cultural enrichment.

    Looking Ahead

With Wayne Perks at the helm, Ramble Worldwide anticipates a fruitful period of growth and transformation. His leadership is expected to drive the company’s vision forward, solidifying its position as a leader in the walking holiday sector.
