Record December for Travel Job Seekers A 2017 High

The travel industry witnessed a remarkable surge in job seeking activity during December, marking the busiest December since 2017.

According to C&M Travel Recruitment, December saw a significant increase in the number of individuals exploring travel job opportunities, despite being traditionally the quietest month of the year.

The latest data from C&M Travel Recruitment revealed a striking 22% rise in new candidates seeking jobs in the travel sector compared to December 2022. This represents the highest level of job-seeking activity during December since 2017, with statistics showing a 31% increase on December 2019 figures. This marked rise in interest is indicative of a potential revitalisation within the industry as it recovers from previous downturns.

Interestingly, while December 2023 recorded high numbers compared to these years, a 51% decrease was observed against November 2023. This variance underscores the seasonal trends typical of the industry.

The demand for new hires remains robust, though companies may need to strategise to attract top-tier talent as competition intensifies.

This is coupled with a 38% decrease against the same period of the previous year, reflecting the challenges faced by recruiters in matching candidates with available positions.

Employers are expected to offer competitive packages to secure leading candidates, as increased job seeker activity signals a promising but challenging recruitment landscape.

The industry must remain agile and adaptable as it addresses these fluctuating dynamics.

This burst of activity in December provides an optimistic view of the travel job market’s future. As firms strategise to secure top talent, the industry’s adaptability will be key in sustaining this upward trend.

The December surge in travel job seekers signals robust growth and potential in the industry as it heads into the new year.

Organisations aiming to capitalise on this trend must focus on adaptability and competitive offerings to attract and retain the best candidates.
