Brazil’s tourism authorities are actively considering familiarisation trips as part of a concerted effort to increase visitor numbers from the UK. Following a robust recovery post-Covid, with 5.9 million international visitors last year, the country is eager to not only meet but exceed these figures in the coming years.

According to Celso Sabino, Brazil’s tourism minister, the UK is identified as one of the most sophisticated and influential markets in Europe. Recognising the UK’s potential, Brazil aims to implement a blend of innovative promotional campaigns, which could include press trips and fam tours, to enhance the country’s appeal among UK travellers.

Sabino emphasised Brazil’s rich natural, urban, and cultural beauty, stating that even beyond the well-trodden paths, visitors will find numerous hidden gems. He assures that the country’s advanced tourism infrastructure offers a secure and comprehensive experience for all kinds of visitors.

Amplifying its reach, Brazil has been working towards improving air connectivity, recording a 40% increase in new international flights this past year. This advance is part of a broader ambition to attract more visitors, particularly from top source markets like Argentina, the United States, and significant European contributors, including France and the UK.
