Riviera Travel has announced the introduction of a new river cruise ship, the 178-passenger Riviera Resplendence, slated for launch in 2026. This vessel will complement the fleet alongside the Riviera Radiance, which will be operational in the upcoming year. Details of the itineraries for the new ship are expected to be released soon.
As part of an ambitious 2026 cruise programme, Riviera will conduct 428 sailings with its 13-ship fleet, tapping into an unprecedented demand for river cruises. This includes 31 dedicated solo traveller departures, ensuring that the cruise line caters to both individual and group travellers.
The pre-sale event beginning on 18th September precedes the general release from 25th September, marking the earliest that Riviera has ever offered a new booking year. This strategic move responds to overwhelming consumer interest, as evidenced by a 51% increase in booked revenue for 2025 over the previous year.
Maintaining competitive pricing, Riviera has announced that 2026 departures will remain at 2025 price levels until 15th December. Additionally, a £50 booking incentive for European cruises is available to agents from 18th September to 31st October, along with an all-inclusive drinks package for European cruises.
Five new themed itineraries will debut in 2026, adding to the appeal of the programme. This includes an additional Mekong River cruise and a Medieval Germany solo-dedicated itinerary, providing diverse cultural experiences for travellers.
Vicky Billing, UK & Ireland head of trade and partnerships, acknowledged the trade’s pivotal role, stating, “The trade has been phenomenal at selling our 2025 European river cruises, and continue to do so, so what better way to launch 2026 than by rewarding them with a rich incentive.” Will Sarson, product director, highlighted the significance of the expanded programme, citing the exceptional demand for Riviera river cruises and the appeal of new themed options.
Reflecting on the introduction of the Riviera Resplendence, Sarson remarked, “We’re thrilled to reveal this latest addition to our river cruise fleet, which further underlines our commitment to delivering a high-quality onboard experience for our guests.” He emphasized the ship’s new facilities and features, which will continue to uphold the distinguished elements that have made Riviera’s vessels popular among cruisers.
Riviera Travel’s latest announcements mark a significant expansion of its offerings, keeping pace with growing cruise demands while enhancing passenger experiences.
