The St Kitts Tourism Authority is taking a forward-thinking approach to increase its market presence in the United Kingdom by enhancing its collaboration with travel agents. To achieve this, they have engaged a sales and marketing agency, Silva, renowned for its expertise in Caribbean resort representation, to lead this initiative.
Suzy Trott, from Silva, has been appointed to spearhead this effort. She will be responsible for leading training sessions, representing St Kitts at various UK roadshows, and escorting travel agents on familiarisation (fam) trips to the island. This strategic engagement seeks to bolster the visibility of St Kitts among travel agents, aiming to further increase the number of visitors from the UK.
Ellison ‘Tommy’ Thompson, the chief executive of the St Kitts Tourism Authority, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re delighted to have Suzy onboard, working alongside our UK sales and marketing team to build on the incredible progress we have made since the pandemic.” His statement underscores the commitment to leverage travel agents as a critical component of St Kitts’ tourism success.
The initiative follows a notable increase in arrivals from the UK, with 2023 witnessing a 38% rise compared to the previous year. This momentum is seen as a foundation to drive further growth in 2024, capitalising on the increased interest and accessibility afforded by the twice-weekly British Airways flights operating year-round from Gatwick.
This collaborative effort with travel agents is poised to further solidify St Kitts’ presence in the UK market and sustain its growth trajectory.
